Confused on this math problem

I have no idea how to solve this problem, the book doesn't help as much and my teacher didn't go over this type of problem with us.
We're doing Exponential Growth and Decay and here is the problem:
"A Certain medication is eliminated from the bloodstream at a steady rate. It decays according to the equation y=ae^-0.1625t, where t is in hours. Find the half-life of this substance."
I have no idea what to do. Please help, thank you I don't want the answer btw, because I already have it, I just need the steps.

Step 1: Find initial concentration (sub in 0 for t)
Step 2: Divide the Y value you get from step 1 by 2
Step 3: Set the value you get from step 2 as your new Y value
Step 4: Solve for t

x=t
Plug in x in your calculador and find y, then plot them on your graph.
