im having the same issue. On the left bird statue(does dr) I get in 3-4 attacks, then just wait for dr to hit and wait it out. its almost impossible to see it use dr. Then on pb I just attack the hell out of it, when it cast dr, a huge skull pops up before its set in place, so you have the ability to see it being cast.
only problem im having is timing the dr. other than that its smooth sailing
about 500k if you don't have a lot of %boss.
Left bird also DRs. Right bird seduces.
The Bird's DR is about 20k, so it's lethal to most thieves.
If you don't know already, the best place to stand during that time is behind the yellow orb at the base of the left Old Man statue. At that distance he won't aggro onto you and thus won't activate his DR.
I believe if you have reasonable boss % he can be done with less than 300k

@Ravela: More about his DR. He will first use it at 90% hp, and unlike Hilla and chaos Queen, PBs DR starts reflecting damage as soon as the animation starts, so timing it is important. It is far better to miss out on 1-3 seconds of attacking than it is to attack till the last second and end up killing yourself.
Once he starts the animation, the buff lasts for 25 seconds, leaving you 18 seconds after it wears off to attack him.

Not sure about range, but it should be fairly feasible.
As the poster above mentioned, DR is around 40 seconds. Watching the seconds part of the timer, I add 20 seconds to it and stay attentive to the fact that he will DR around that time.
To be safe, I activate pickpocket and use Meso Explosion until he DRs the first time. From there you should be able to time easily. You can continue using ME after his cooldown is finished to do damage and ensure you won't die of DR.
I don't know about the range. But his DR cd is 43 seconds. Probably the most important thing to remember when fighting him. And the bird statue on the left will cast DR when you pass the yellow circle under the wiseman statue next to it. Just stay on the left of that yellow circle and you will be safe
