New Modem/Router

Finally got a new wifi modem, blazing fast internet speeds, which was much better than my old one. What is your modem/router? Are you enjoying it?

Netgear something-or-other. But my ISP, Comcrap - I mean Comcast - is the problem. My dad's computer, my brother's, and mine are all using ethernet cables. Yet my dad's comp gets 50mpbs download, brother's gets 20mbps, and mine get's ~10mbps. Even when I switched cables, and even when I'm the only one online.

Comcast freakin' sucks. We're trying Century Link soon and I doubt it could get any worse so why not.

@Reflexes: Read the text under.

@demonicrack: I don't know what the heck is up with my ISP.
I'm buying 50 down, 10 up. They are giving me 120 down, 11 up.
Seriously, I don't know what's happening, but I'm not complaining.
It probably is the ISP that is giving me this speed.
I can plug in a router to my hybrid and still get like 90 down.
It might be my location where I live? Maybe... Just random thoughts.
Routers are there to divide your internet so that you have wi-fi (if your modem isn't capable of that) and more LAN ports.
They don't necessarily do anything to improve speed.
If anything, it slows it down because more devices=more dividing.
If you want the fastest speed, you can directly plug your computer into the modem where the router is supposed to be connected.
I understand that much, but it seems that you guys have some crazy base download speed and the router boosts it. I will have the opportunity to directly connect my computer to the router although it would be a fairly difficult task. But even plugged in, my laptop only gets like 60mb on a good day. Is it your carrier that allows you to get 100+?

I've heard some mixed reviews about this modem...how are you liking it so far?

I don't know much about routers as but do they really make that much of a difference? I was planning on dropping some cash on that new high end Asus router.
Wow, pretty swell router dude, I bet you hardly get any hiccups on it.
It's stable and fast. I flashed an alternative firmware (Merlin) too. It gets super hot though.
