Wifi keeps crashing

My wifi crashes about 10 or more times a day. This has been going on for years and no one in my family can understand the problem. My dad is convinced it's maplestory that crashes the wifi although I have no idea why and I have never heard of that problem from anyone on any forum ever. I am guessing that it's because there are so many devices connected to one wifi network (all of our computers, phones, tablets etc.) but I really have no idea. Can any techy give some insight/has this problem ever happened to anyone else?

Here's what you need to do to help your problem.

1) Return your Charter provided router if you're "renting" one. This saves money on your monthly bill, while returning their refurbished crappy hardware.
2) Buy yourself a new router that has "Wireless N600" this will allow you to connect lots of devices at the same time with a strong connection. I suggest Motorola or Netgear or Linksys for brands, in that order.
3) Go to every device in the house and go into the "Power settings" then go into the "advanced power settings" make sure the "Wireless Adapter" is set to the "maximum performance."
4) Go to every device in the house and go into the "Network" settings, then click the "Wireless adapter" and right click on it to open the "properties" then click configure. Click the "power management" tab and make sure there are NO boxes with a check mark under "allow computer to turn off this device to save power"
5) Go to every device in the house and make sure the "Wireless Adapter Driver" is up to date by the most current version available.
6) Be sure to place your Router hardware as high as possible for the best signal strength. If you could mount it on the ceiling more power to you, no pun intended.
7) If your house is very big or has multiple floors, I suggest buying a "Wireless extension" it's another little box that works in a sense like a bridge, for your Wifi.

You can do steps 3-6 first, to judge if there's any difference in performance before you spend any money. This will help narrow down the root of the problem. However I strongly recommend you do every single step, especially number 1 and 2.

If you're using a low/mid-range router:
-Get a new router, or
-Stop connecting so many devices to it

If you're using a low/mid-range router AND modem AND Internet plan:
-Upgrade your package.
-Get a new router.
-Get a new modem.

If you're using a high-end router, modem, and have a great Internet plan:
-Update your firmware.

If it's just your computer/laptop frequently disconnecting from the WiFi:
-Update drivers, or
-Upgrade your network/WiFi card.

mhmm
if you have more than like 5 usually, it will crash consumer routers.
get a secondary router and connect devices to that one so it's split

@rydog77:
Well, sincde you have so many things connected to the wifi it'll end up crashing your wifi since so much of it is being used. Try taking off some of the wifi on your tings. it happens to me also i have about 8 and my wifi crashes when i have them all connected so try that.

Maplestory does not crash your wifi.
WHat's your internet provider?
How many tablets/laptops/consoles/desktops do you have connected to the internet?[/quote]
