If you're starting a new MM then leave Mortal Blow unmaxed, if you're already 155+ then you can leave Bolt Rupture unmaxed since you don't need it as a single target skill with no-CD Snipe.

Mortal Blow is still doodoo though so you can just leave it unmaxed anyway, yolo

@Silverfoxr The difference for marksman vs bowmaster is the usefulness of mortal blow. As a bow master it can be pretty useful due to the fairly low hits of arrow blaster at early 4th job and it's nature a bunch of low hits = more procs and more use. It's also a nice source of mp in some maps (dragon turtles/evo world) where you can drop turret on a high spawn area and laugh.

Marksman spam pierce in AoE and snipe in 1v1 making mortal blow near useless. As with others have noticed our 3rd job mob move is just insane compared to others (I've seen level 80s pulling 800k-1mil with it) removing the 3rd job merits.

Basicly if you don't kill all your enemies with 1 pierce chances are you'll use another pierce regardless of mortal blow and if the enemy was below the MB thresh hold it won't survive another pierce.

I don't know much about Marksmen as I have a Bowmaster... but at the end of my 3rd job, I had everything maxed except Blazing Shot/Roasting Shot/Inferno (our mobbing fire attack). Really, whatever attack skill you have in 3rd job that won't have any use in 4th. Basicly, think ahead - if something's going to be completely replaced, you won't need to max it. However, buffs or abilities with tactical use (IE: knockback or moves that gather mobs) do have some use, so it'd help to max them.

Either way, in the end, the skill I didn't max as a Hunter still had 14 points into it... so I'm sure the same would be true for you guys.

Personally I find mortal blow the most useless due to the EXTREMELY situational use. It will only be useful for things you don't quit 1hko with pierce that are not party play or boss mobs (If I level a marksman right now from 60-140 the only place this is applied is romeo and juliet pq grinding. Even then bolt rupture is REALLY powerful (at 91k range it hits for 2-5mil(I use it for fun))).

Dragon's breath is used until you stop leveling. It benefits from piercing effect (1.2x damage every monster hit stacking) and even though it's not used for damage it might as well hit as hard as it can. I use it at HoH and I've seen it do 2-3m IIRC.

I don't have a MM but I know the skills since most of them used to be on bowmasters too, and I'd pass on dragon pulse. It's used to push monsters not kill them.

I maxed everything but Mortal Blow. The others actually have uses.

Three options to not max...
Mortal Blow
Dragon Pulse
Bolt Rupture

I honestly find Mortal Blow to be the most useless skill in 3rd job. But you can argue to leave out Dragon Pulse since it's not used for it's damage anyways. Bolt Rupture in my opinion is useful enough to max since it provides much more vertical range than Pierce.
