Manga for kids?
I'm looking to add manga to my classroom library for students ages 5-7. Any recommendations?
I don't read much manga myself and what I do read is definitely not for kids at their level. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

there are various pokemon mangas. I believe the "electric tale of pikachu" would be appropriate for children (especially the flipped, slightly censored NA version)
To be honest, however, I think that there are just too many subtle differences between japanese and american culture that children of that age either won't get, or the manga wouldn't be appropriate for them (think nudity and perverts, for instance)
I think you would be better off buying comic strip collection books or american comics for kids (like batman and robin adventures).
On the other hand I would recommend yotsubato (maybe) and chi's sweet home... though I'm not sure if they are translated/published.
dunno about bleach and one piece, but in the very first volume (and the very first chapter iirc) of naruto, the main character does a special move that summons (?) a bunch of naked girls. yes, it's censored, but still... >.>
aren't manga a bit hard for 5-7 year old kids though? (with the obvious exception of the ones with no dialogue like Little Little)
naruto
bleach
one piece
theres no ecchi or anything like that
every kid loves those manga
@yumtoast
manhwa reads left to right
it's in color too
@HateSpirit: Yeah, that's definitely not what I have!
@sevenofnine The (old) Pokemon manga series were pretty strange, probably more for like 13+
@Hellksing: Maybe you and I are thinking of a different series.
Hopefully you can find some manga that reads left to right. If I were a North-American primary school teacher, I wouldn't put books in the classroom library that read in the opposite direction.

agreed. in the manga, pokemon can actually die (as shown in the very first volume, with Arbok sliced in half)
not too gruesome, but definitely not for kids
@Newspaper. Yes, Pokemon is the obvious one (-I should've mentioned I have a few).
@FlyDemon
Do you get satisfaction from being completely useless? Go find some food elsewhere, troll.
Asa made Jugyou Chu! this one is really good for kids. very educational
@Newspaper. Yes, Pokemon is the obvious one (-I should've mentioned I have a few). Do kids nowadays even know what Digimon is? lol
+1 for Hamtaro. Hadn't thought of that one. I'll have to look into Doraemon. Don't know much about it. Thanks!
