So what should i expect when living alone?

Okay... So... If you seen my previous thread about my mom kicking me out. You'd have more insight on my situation. It really wasn't a troll thread if any of you thought it was.

I just need to know what can a 19 year old expect when they move out & rent their own place to live. Whether it be a house or anything.
What bills should i expect to pay if it'd be just me living there; with me being a single, 19 year old male. And would $10/hour be enough to support myself? That's the current minimum wage here in Chicago, Illinois.

I refuse to move into a more ghetto neighborhood than what my current one is. Even if it'd be cheaper.
I know the cheapest places to live in South Chicago. But there are literal daily shootings in those areas. There's literally a website that documents a minimum of 1 person dying each day. And what i find that they all have in common is the area in which it happens... Low income neighborhoods.

So far I made a list of what all the bills that are expected to be paid monthly.
Which would be;
Cell phone.
Internet.
Rent + maybe gas & lighting.
Groceries.
Transportation.

I know I'd have to buy furniture... Not sure how much that'd cost. Also I'm thinking whether I should look into getting a car versus having to pay $100/monthly for a Bus/train pass.

Am I'm missing something else here?

No woman in your life. Which is a good thing.

In NY, that wouldn't even cover rent. How much is rent there? You're making $10 an hour, let's say best case scenario you actually do work 40 hours a week. That's around $300 a week after taxes, so $1200 a month. I wouldn't even be able to find an apartment that cheap in NY, forget about food and everything else

ah... not saying that i have any experience living alone, but i think you should consider moving in with a friend or two. or even a relative if you have any close ones nearby. living alone is very stressful and lonely imo, i think everyone needs at least a roommate or two. even if you prefer being alone, i think you need the financial support (unless you're middle class or something).

good luck though!

You're gonna need roommates if you want all that stuff.

1. roommates are stupid. don't bother wasting your time with a roommate.

2. invest in a car

3. look for an apartment that offers to cover water + rent or some utility being included

4. literally every dollar counts. i doubt you'll be wasting your money like i did, but try to save everything

5. the most important. just remember that if you miss work = your ass is going to be homeless.

learn to cook. not only does it benefit your health because you're not eating trashy fast food everyday but you'll save money and girls will love you if you can cook them a nice homecooked meal.
