might be right i was hecked yesterday never been hecked for years ...the only thing i did this week out of the blue was to re download maple which i had to go thru the site ....
and as much as anyone want to be on 24/7 thats not gonna happen if maple keeps crashing

Well, heres how they choose.

step 1 of choosing. ) find someone to "be your friend"
2) Trust them and let them use your account once
3) act "hacked" when you are stripped
4) make a thread and realize youre dumb

but seriously think about it:

The people that log in using the website have their info taken and get hacked. Then when other people find out about it, they get scared and use the website to change their info, pic, email etc. This is exactly what the hackers want you to do. With the sheer amount of people logging in to change information, hackers can just take their pick of anyones account.

If you've had the same information for years and haven't been hacked, It's probably safer to not change it Just a suggestion, It makes sense to me

@Jowe27: yeah it is you have to delete those files. those are the ones that are linked to your account. Delete everything you can

i kno, its kinda defeating the point and ironic at the same time. u dont wanna log into the website so there's one less way for them to get your info, but you wanna change ur info u gotta log in. there has to be at least 1 guy in gms who's been hacked this way o.o

@Voan: My friends never use GameLauncher. Well, they can't for some reason, even with "run as admin". Anyway, They've been playing for quite a long nao, and I'm not seeing anything bad going down. I'm not saying you are completely wrong, I'm saying that just because you log in from the website doesn't mean you'll get hacked.
@above: Rest assured, they won't drop them. It is in no way beneficial to them. If you still have some stuff, you might try to rebuild your character again. That's when they hack you once again. LOL

They go for the accounts that have lotsa money and stuff worth taking. They go to the FM, look at a mushie shop with a buncha cgynus equips or something valuable, look at the IGN below it and *BAM* they have their next target. They keep on doing this and make a list.

btw what worlds are getting hacked the most O-o? Scania..?

I got hacked and I had just started being extra careful with my account and scanned my computer before I logged in every time (through the launcher)

Dude, you might be on to something. Haven't changed info in 2 years +. Never been hacked.

I got hacked today (Well, at least I found out I got hacked today), and I went in that temp thing. Theres a few text files, with my Characters name in the title. I click on them, and its a bunch of chienese letters. Is this related to it? o.o

just use the launcher and if you have windows 7 open your start tab, search %temp% and delete everything in there. If you see a folder showing anything ms related your prone to getting hacked. everytime i logg off and log on i delete everything. also if you see things comming back after you delete it that means theres a program in one of them that cannot be deleted. i found one called debuglogfile or something like that and i think its the main thing that keeps trying to hack me. i try to delete it but it says that its running in internet explorer, but i closed IE and i even uninstalled it. i never even use IE either so it seems sketchy

i can't log in atm the website and game launcher doesn't work for me... i hope im not getting hacked.

why would the delete your account? hackers want you to suffer, deleting your account puts would do you good and unattach you from maplestory!
