How do i deal with my gf and PMS

Right off the bat, no disrespect towards the female population, i have a serious question.
So ive been with my gf for about 3 months now, and everytime around this time of the month i find it really hard to manage our relationship. She lets me know that its nearing that time of the month, so i can ready myself and be really cautious.
I try surprising her by asking her out to dinner, and going out and shopping and spoiling her or what not to make her happy and take her mind off it.
But i always seem to *beep it up. This month she got really angry and upset with me because, of the little things that i mess up (stupid jokes, dont hold her hand while crossing the road).. now shes not insecure or anything, and not picky like this... only during that time of the month.
So any counters to that time of the month? Much appreciated

I agree with this part. Although we never have any problems in our relationship when my girlfriend goes through that time. She's a little emotional but It never really causes any trouble for us.

If I started acting like that around my boyfriend I'd want him to smack me. She doesn't deserve to treat you badly, it really is not as big of a deal as girls like to make it out to be.

leave her alone
give here the option of hanging out with you if she wants to.
aren't females ultra sensitive when they're on their period?

PMSing really is not that severe in mood changes. I know, I'm a girl.

Perhaps she's just going through lots of stress, try to do something relaxing with her. Walk on the beach, you know?

Maybe something's bugging her. :S Regular PMS is less intense than her reactions.

Maybe she needs to speak to a doctor. That's a bit more severe than normal PMS
