Why do I always lag x-x

So I got this new laptop when I graduated and all and I always lag for some reason!
It's not some fancy gaming laptop and all but when I play killing floor or the walking dead on steam I never lag at all.
So can anyone help me like find and solve the problem please?

@ilikefoodand: Change the topic if you will, I don't mind.
Yes please, write me a book while you're at it, it simply adores me to see how you feel the need to tell me your entire life story.
I feel kind of, special. Really.
But anyway, respond. I won't after this. I apologize if I've caused you any trouble, honestly, I'm not that kind of guy.
Bye!

@Draception: You asked questions. I answered.
I'm wondering if you have any more questions that I can answer for you.
It seems like you want to know more about me.
How much more information do you need?
I can write you a biography while I'm at it.

@ilikefoodand: I'm calmly sitting here and actually laughing at how much you care about this.
You quoted me, and responded to individual pieces of my text.
Are you looking at yourself right now? LOL.
Do you own the thread?
Yes.
Is this your website?
No. However, it's not yours either.
What rights do you honestly have on this website?
All of the rights you have.
Who are self-centered and immature
Name calling now?
Now would you please calm down because honestly, this is a useless argument, and I have no understanding as to why you wish to continue it.
You're continuing it just as well as I am if you try to put blame on me. What makes you greater than me?
Why are you so fixed on "winning" this argument? Is this supposed to benefit you?
You are as well, and you know that. It benefits me knowing that I am not inferior to your superiority.
If you don't even play Maplestory why are you here.
You can talk about anything on Basil. Such as this thread, where Maple does not have to be relevant.
The only thing you're doing is irritating others and making false judgements.
You're irritating me, just as much as you think I'm irritating others.
You made as many false judgments as I allegedly did.
Well here, I throw all my money on the desk, take it, it's yours. Like seriously, grow up please.
I'll take it as you are trying to bait me to flame you more. If you are, then you need to calm yourself down, you might break your keyboard.
SO uh ... where's the link to the for the tutorial thing? :l
I've been occupied with another basiler in your thread who causes nothing but ruckus, sorry about that.

Link: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-make-windows-8-faster/
Disable Time Waste Animations is what I was referring to.
It helped me slightly.

@ilikefoodand:
I posted it because there were an overload of PM's. My threads have helped MANY other people, and just because it didn't help you doesn't mean that I can't help others with it too.
I can't believe you're arguing about the existence of a comment in a thread. Do you own the thread? Is this your website? What rights do you honestly have on this website?
I can make this EXTREMELY technical and I'm willing to ask for moderators assistance since I'm familiar with them for some time.

Btw, I get PM's DAILY on how-to's and I help everyone I can. Don't just assume that "no one appreciates me" because everyone that needs help appreciates it.
I simply stated that people like YOU, who are self-centered and immature, simply don't know how to appreciate things, ESPECIALLY when it wasn't anything negative AT ALL in the first place. It doesn't even make logical sense to bring that topic up in the first place. Really?

It is my mistake for posting it there because there was a PM by @zarisktz and I thought it was you.
Now would you please calm down because honestly, this is a useless argument, and I have no understanding as to why you wish to continue it.
Why are you so fixed on "winning" this argument? Is this supposed to benefit you? If you don't even play Maplestory why are you here. The only thing you're doing is irritating others and making false judgements. It's annoying, it's useless, and outright stupid.

Well here, I throw all my money on the desk, take it, it's yours. Like seriously, grow up please.
Skill animations are affected by processor speed, not your internet speed.

Barely anything in the game is affected by your internet speed- it's all about your computers processor if you want Maplestory to run smoothly.

~You can run the game with 8Mbps internet speed or even lower and it would still be equivalent to someone with 30Mbps.
For example, a computer with an i3 processor, especially a laptop, will suffer from lag (generally speaking), whereas a desktop with an i7 processor will suffer much less- if anything, none at all. (assuming that both computers are using 8Mbps).
My i7 desktop only gets random lag spikes every now and then only because of Nexon's horrible servers, and thanks to the overpopulated Scania -.-.

OT: Laptops in general are not recommended for gaming and if you want to stop/reduce the amount of lag that occurs you'd best invest in a better, faster computer.
Other than that, here are some tips to help you with whatever you currently have.

Lag solutions

Also, two of the best ways to defeat lag for the most part would be:
1. Set your computer to performance, rather than effects and animations. You can change this in your power options, I'll find a link to a brief tutorial.
2. Run Maplestory>Task Manager>Processes Tab>Right Click Maplestory.exe>Set Priority>High

Your laptop might overheat in the second choice because it's working harder to perform better.
It's a normal reaction, but don't be using it too much. Overheating can lead to problems.
I honestly only use it when I'm playing bingo on a mule with my old laptop.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
@Draception: When did I want to know how to make money?
When did I say that?
I've quit maple already.
I only came on because both Vindictus and Tera were having a maintenance.

Are you mad no one appreciates your help?
You can be done, but I'm still going to respond as long as you respond to me.

@ilikefoodand: "the fact that you think you can resolve any issue ever"
I've been done with this conversation a while ago, and you wanted to know how to make money.
I actually took the time to write that entire thing and you're trying to flame me for helping you?
Are you mad?
I'm honestly done right now, please don't respond to this. I shouldn't ever try helping people who clearly don't deserve it, since they do not appreciate it at all.
I swear.

Now I'm going to tell you one thing about this "damage" issue.
Yes, the numbers can lag you only under specific circumstances.
No you cannot do anything about it for the most part.
No one is willing to buy google fiber to get rid of .5 miliseconds of a lag spike, just putting that out there, which is why it's irrelevant.
It's true, but it's such a minor detail that not many people experience.

You posted a whole guide on how to make mesos.
I simply was pointing out something Nexon could have made better.
Why the hell do I need a freaking guide of how to make billions of mesos?
Your irrelevance to the topic is driving me insane.

I know the thread is about lag.
She quoted me and told me it's about FPS lag.
I would have asked for more details on what specs her laptops has.

You're trying to point out a flaw in my post when I haven't elaborated on the topic.
"Using skills" okay, you understood that part. That was a general statement that could have applied to many things.
You chose to pinpoint it to one point of view and accuse me of giving irrelevant information.

@ilikefoodand: She "could have" had this issue but clearly does not. This is a thread on lag, and lag only.
Your other "points" are completely irrelevant to the topic and don't even make logical sense to even do in the first place.
What are you still trying to argue about here?

*Edit*
A comment above is referring to town lag, which is one of the very rare times where the game is severely dependent on your internet speed.
If you want to go pulling plugs out of the wall go ahead, but you're not going to get anywhere. Not my problem.
I'm done here so I plead that you do not tag me in potential responses that I have no time for.

I lag and disconnect to the world menu when the lag is heavy the game freezes for 5 sec to 1 min b4 freezing the internet doesn't go off though connected wirelessly

If you are experiencing the dreaded "town lag, " it is because your laptop's hard drive data transfer and reader capabilities are limited. Compared to desktops of the same generation, laptops have significantly decreased data retrieval speed, which is required for Maplestory towns with many CPUs.

However, it is more likely that you are experiencing internet lag. If your system can run those other games, which are infinitely more demanding, then the most plausible problem would be found in your internet connection.

To fix this problem, talk to a family member who is knowledgeable about computers and ask them the following things:

Can I update my wireless card driver?
Can I replace the wireless card?
Is the router, which provides wifi, capped at a certain number of users?
Is there a way to upgrade the internet service which is fed into the router?
Are there background programs running that are sapping connectivity?

@Draception: Well if you're trying to disprove my point, I will get serious.
Pulling out your ethernet cable is not shutting off your internet.
It simulates if you disconnected from your ISP.
The OP could have had this issue and you're here talking about it's the processor's fault that she disconnected from the internet.

If you want to start an educated argument then go ahead, but don't back out once you started.
Should I upload a video where your skills deal no visible damage but I am clearly attacking?
You can do it yourself. Pull out your ethernet cable from your router and start attacking monsters.
...You're not being serious right now are you?
I'm honestly not going to sit and explain the obvious, and shutting off your internet to see how your skills don't lag you anymore isn't helping this thread at all.
You simply think it's doing it, but it's not. It's a complicated process which I do not have time to explain, nonetheless, it doesn't matter for you cannot play without an internet connection in the first place so what point are you trying to make here?
We're both wasting our time now. Sorry.

@lyfalight: Yeah, Nexon's servers are just real iffy some days, and it's really not in our hands to do anything about it but buy expensive computers to handle their problems better. Oh well.
what kind of lag do you experience, low frames per second? delayed actions (such as typing on all chat and your message appears seconds later)?

if you experience low FPS it could be because your pc's specs are bad or your pc is running too many processes along with maple. there are special cases where some good computers cant run ms properly as well. it would be helpful if you provided your specs such as your processor, RAM, graphics card, etc.
