There is no other reason. If you've ever watched ANY video or read ANY description it's to raise awareness for ALS.
It's an ingenious marketing plan that turned the ALS foundation's 22k funds from last year to around 3 million this year. ALS is Lou Gherig's disease, if you did not know.

Well it's summer, it's a weird way to cool off. Plus it's more of a thing for celebrities or athletes to donate money.
Idk, for me i got nominated 5 times so I thought it was pretty funny to do. I think people do it because its just a small silly thing to do.
