Perfecting your Weapon

In an attempt to hit millions of damage on my NL, I have to start with my Claw. It is a clean Fafnir with 86 atk 10 open slots (hammered twice) and my goal is to get it to 200atk.
Now I know i have to use 15% trace scrolls which will get it to 176 atk + 6 AEEs which will get it to 200atk.
But while i scroll it with trace scrolls, what are my options in perfecting it?
My two current options are:
1. 15% Trace + Clean Slates 10% (50m each)
2. 15% Trace + Shield Scrolls (2.8k NX each)

What is the better option? and are there any other options?

So I just did some serious research on this. With spell traces you could spend anywhere from 50 mil to 40 plus bil. You start of scrolling the first 10 slots and if probability is on your side you will pass around 1-2. Then if clean slates are 50 mil in your world each additional slot will cost close to 3-4 bil. It will take you around 10 clean slates to get one slot back(500 mil) then it will take about 8 tries to get a successful 15% spell trace.(8x500)

Make sure you have lv100 diligence + 4% guild scroll skills.
Yesterday, I did 15% trace scrolls on my zero wep, and it almost took 40 attempts(=weapons) to get decent number of success for me lol
I got 6/8 in the end.

@itoldyounoob:
21% att is from ur total att , not ur 86 clean claw

so compare 700 att with no % att ,
to 600 att with 21%,
-> do the math , 600 and 21% is better

i never said leave ur weapon clean , i said it was less important than potential and people forget that and spend more mesos on scrolling than cubing

@TheUltimatum: Yea use red cubes for stats. But when you get a good legendary pot start using black cubes. If you have something like 21%ATT/Boss and a crappy third line it is cheaper in the long run to use a black cube and see if the second pot is better than to use red cubes and potentially get continuously awful pot
My numbers turn out like this, very roughly.

Master Craftsman

Epic -> Unique: 30-50
Unique -> Leg: Never tried

Meister

Epic -> Unique: Never used
Unique -> Leg: Never used

Red

Epic -> Unique: 10-20
Unique -> Leg: Really low, used over 100 and no tier up
Black

Epic -> Unique 5-10
Unique -> Leg 20-30

If you're cubing for stats, always use Red cubes/Meister cubes. People who cube leg items with black cubes are wasting their mesos. If you're looking for a tier up, black is the only one I've had consistently get me to leg, but others are okay for unique.

I've heard Meister cubes tend to give worse stats and have similar tier up chances to Red cubes, but I've never personally tried using more than a handful.
I see, So i will use Black Cubes to get my equips to legendary and then red cubes all the way for better stats

@Undexme A good pot with a clean weapon is more useless than a good weapon with a bad pot. What good is 21% att if your base atts 86 att? It's gotta be balanced, and the whole point of the game is to constantly improve, so why not both?
OT: I actually prefer using shieldings. I've had a weird history with cleanslates, and if you happen to share the same fate as I have, you'll fail about 100 cleanslates before one passes. However, cleanslates would theoretically be the cheaper method. RNG can be a pain.
Yeah i know but i would personally rather get my base attack up first. I will go with Slates then, btw, that led me to my other question..
what is the best way to cube? I see Black, red, and Mesiter cubes but i cant tell whats the best way to go up the ranks

people go crazy about scrolling and make sure they maximize the attack but then sattle for some lame pot of 6% total 8% critical
worry about cubing first , scrolling is less important

if ur still set on scrolling then slates usualy come out cheaper (250mil = 10 slates = slot < safety = 2.8k nx = 280 mil and the risk of scam )
Nx ratios arent 1:100 anymore
Why not just buy a perfect weapon its alot cheaper than scrolling urself if u do some math
What is MapleStory now? A place where people just care about damage? No socializing anymore? Why do you guys play for damage? I rather do Horntail runs with friends than alone because it's more fun....

The OP is on a forum (a social place by definition) asking for help about a certain aspect of the game he enjoys. Why do you assume he doesn't socialize in game or do "horntail runs" in game with friends? More so, why do you assume that everyone has to play the game the way YOU do?

OT: The best way atm is 15% spell trace + CSS 10%s. I would honestly wait on it until a coin shop comes out with +8 to +10 att scrolls like in RED or Anniversary.
