Xenons are crap compared to Night Lords when it comes to dishing out damage.
But Xenons are pretty fun.

Well we have the same goal, I will just probably never reach that plateau, not unless it's truly feasible to hit cap
on a xenon without spending much NX. After reading all of this... I guess I did pick a good class for a pretty much low funded guy.

@Axnslicer:

By the time the Xenon nerf hit, I decided I wasn't going to hop classes. I felt like even though it was a huge setback, eventually hard work and dedication will pay off.

I was partly right. I have no regrets, even if many other people do more dps than me, I don't care. I am glad that at least I was able to accomplish the goal of "soloing all the bosses" in the game, with the exception of Tower of Oz though whether that counts or not depends on the person.

The only difference is bragging rights, on being able to save a few minutes of your life every boss run with so called "higher dps".

Sometimes, I feel people are missing the bigger picture, that this game isn't all about damage

While that may be true, it is inverted when you think about it end-game wise.

In order for Xenon to catch up to NLs dps wise they need to be able to approach caps with beam dance. This takes a lot more funds than the amount that Xenons will have the advantage against NLs at, (40-50b). A Night Lord will long have hit the 50m cap with quad throw, and since there's not much they can improve from then on(venom/MoNL damage, lel) they are free to use their funds elsewhere, while Xenon will have to keep climbing to catch up.

Generally speaking, without any outside factors I believe capping beam dance is about equal to capping quad throw. That is just from my observations, however.
Yes, that's true. Xenons are a "strong at low funding, weak at high funding" class. NLs are the opposite, a "weak at low funding, strong at high funding class". If you're rich (100B+), you fund a NL/NW/Phantom/Kaiser. If you don't have plans to spend over 50 B, you go for a Xenon. As you've said, anyone who's trying to cap on Beam Dance is wasting their money, that move wasn't made for bossing and you can do much better with a different class.
Do not regret funding a NL over a xenon, trust me. The only thing xenons possibly have over a NL is bind,(the worst one in the game, soon to be second worst) but that is paltry compared to the many advantages a NL get over Xenon.

1. Snipe has no chance in hell in competing with quad throw, dpm wise.
2. Dark Sight. Sufficient to say, this doesn't need a lot of explaining.
3.Night Lords are easier to use, and have less buffs. They do not need to manage their energy to get their maximum damage output, (40% crit chance, ooparts code, 30 atk buff requires energy) and energy gives 1% all stat each.

HOWEVER. To answer your question, sadly, due to the night walker revamp, prices of claws are at an all time high right now. This makes finding good deals for claws and thief gear very hard, but in my opinon Night Lords simply are a much better class.
That's the main advantage of playing Xenons. Because Pirate equips are way cheaper than thief equips, and because they have 3 primary stats, Xenons cost less to fund and will hit harder than NLs until you go over about 40-50 B funding.

xenon is alright. i love my xenon with buff duration inner ability and mechanic card. 45 sec duration oo parts, buffing every 5 mins.

you could be a decent NW, now. cant be end game due to fafnir claws being super over priced. but you could still get an empress claw, and 3/4 ra set. thats 50 attack from ra set, and its quite possible to get 6/8 70% spell traces to land. so thats another 30 w.a.
xenon is a lot cheaper early on due to utilizing 3 stats but after a while it gets a lot steeper to upgrade because after a certain point you need to be getting %allstat instead of just one or two of the other stats
She said it all.
