Battlemage

does attack speed matter

I was gonna get the fafnir mana crown, but it's slow.
Apparently ele staffs are fast. Are they better?

Ele staffs are weaker but faster. They don't even have that weird additional % damage on elements for Bams so don't get it.

If you happen to have any lv100's you can use them as MpE Attack Speed pot mules, that should suffice.
Also, i advise you to get those 1 atk speed IA's or Buy Speed Infusion.

Yes, BaMs are the only mages affected by attack speed (save for Fire Poison's Explosion, but I hear that's been changed.)

And to answer the second question, no. Don't do it. Elemental Staves are impossible to scroll up to what a Mana Crown should be and... honestly you're better off doing more damage. If you really need to use something to boost speed, I don't see why haste aura won't get you where you need to be. In the end, it's up to you but if you go Ele Staff, you'll lose out on a ton of damage due to the set effect from the rest of the cRA pieces.

@usuklolxp: then it is affected but the magic attack on a faf staff is so much better than magic attack on an ele. Its pretty much accepted that faf staff is the best in game right now

Attack speed does not affect mages. It only affects BaM. For a BaM good attack speed would be nice, but for any other mage, faf staff/wand it does not make a difference
