Some question about Nx

We all know how relevant NX is in MapleStory, like, MOST of it. I daresay a new player would be scared off by the ammounts of money someone spends in the game. I don't want to say that "NX is neccesary" because you'll take this post as a rant. Well, technically it would be considered a rant, but also some questioning?

I mean, okay; You cango in game, level your character, get drops, sell them, make your way bit by bit, until you reach the high levels +150, in which you begin to see that all of the equips you need to keep forward are... Unreachable by free to play hands.

How come I arrive to that conclusion? Usually, bosses give the means to improve. Training in group, the means to level. Both, the means to get items and money. Well, if you happen to see that bosses are too difficult for you to handle, you try to ask for help. As you ask for help, you begin to see that no one wants to help. Or they do want to help, but they'll take the good drops, leaving you with the "trash". That infortunate event makes you think that maybe you need more level, and you go try to find a group. But all the groups you meet are either full, or their leader wants "attackers" with a lot of damage, reached only by NX means. "Then I must get new equip" You think, but you don't have the means to boss yourself, nor the means to level for bossing, nor the equip to level, nor the level to boss... A vicious circle. Or at least, that was my experience long ago.

Either way, even if you happen to have luck, you'll STILL need NX, in form of, minimum, a Regular Shop in Free Market.

What I want you to see is my point of view compared to the question of needing or not NX to play the game. It's still a Free to Play (Or at least, the download, log in, and such...), so my guess is that there's a slim chance to play wihout paying any real money.

I would like to hear from ye
If you plan on playing MapleStory in the long-term, I would advise you to buy NX. You're spending as much time on this game as a $50 console game. Also you are the kind of player that keeps Nexon alive really. Let's not forget, if the games don't produce money, Nexon pulls the plug on it. And it seems only fair for the people who play the game the most contribute to Nexon's profit.
While I agree on the need of incomes of Nexon, don't you think there's a limit for everything? I'd agree with setting high prices for clothes and such, to be honest, but to the point of making this a Pay2Win, takes like half the fun: You ain't really happy when you achieve something that can be obtained by thousands of people in a flash with a single coin flip. All the NX you have to pay (And people DOES pay that, which I won't ever get), to "perfect" the equips. On the long run, it's way more than a console game.

Sadly for me, MapleStory has it's unique scheme and gameplay, which got me hooked when I was a kid. It's hard to forget about it even as a retired player.

you don't need nx to play, you need nx to get far
however you don't need to buy the nx yourself, you just need someone to spend that nx
i.e someone cubes the gear then you buy it

@WingDrow Really? I've never heard of people ignoring those without NX o.o I don't talk to others much anyway, so.I guess I wouldn't know too much about that. Regarding your statement about grinding: There are other places to grind. For example, I grinded from 120 - 145 on Dragon Turtles and ToT But I guess that would negate my former point concerning NPC-ing drops.
The way I see it, you have to have NX if you want to boss only, since that is what requires such high ranges needed to kill bosses. NX is basically required to make ingame money as well, unless you get extremely lucky with crafting or plan to NPC drops for capital. For grinding and socializing, it's not needed.

I think it really depends on what each person defines as "decent gameplay". If you like to boss or merch, it definitely is needed. If you like to grind or socialize, it's not really needed.
Talking out of self-experience here, I remember when people used to go to LHC. I tried to make my way up the levels, but people were only interested in damage highbies, thus making unworth your statement of not needing NX for grinding, from my point of view. As socializing, I remember clearly everyone ignored or tried to avoid long conversations with someone who had low equip or low NX clothes.

Just saying.

You need NX to make Boss drops tradeable
