I disagree. I live for more challenging games. My favourite game this year is Bloodborne. I love games that value talent. But something about Maple crossed over the line into becoming a hobby and made it ok for the game to be so obnoxiously P2W. I care about my range, too, and learning to boss...my range is 6mil buffed...so don't discount me just because I mostly see the game as a glorified chat room. Maplestory has always been something other than what people otherwise play. When you want challenge you go elsewhere.

Teenagers interested in gaming and anime are what made the game successful. I understand you think its a chat simulator and theres nothing wrong with that but the majority that still play IE the few hundred funded people that actually keep the game alive will move on to a less P2W game. Yesterday I was thinking about the first time I logged into Maple. Maple Island was packed with new people making characters. I didn't quite appreciate nor realize how high the population of the game at that time was. Haha. ^__^ Maaan those were great days.
But seriously though, I can't see Maple fading away just yet. There really isn't any other game quite like it. There are substantial differences between Maple and comparables like Elsword. Maple still has a long road ahead of it.

I doubt it. Maplestory is what it is because it was the first real 2d side scrolling MMO...when Maplestory 2 comes out it's just gonna be like any other MMO that's been around since WOW came out.
The whole 2d thing is the secret to Maplestory's success.

Maplestory is not being switched off... however if MS2 gets announced or rather when it gets announced for a global release I imagine a large portion of people will just switch to that

You're projecting. Most of us don't give a damn about the bosses in general. We just care about being able to fund ourselves by bossing and we care about being helpful to our friends.

Actually, I remember people saying the game was dying back in 2007...and they never stopped.

If they ever get around to releasing 5th job popularity will spike again for a while. I doubt the game will ever truly die considering how unique it is compared to other MMOs.

Much longer. It's not even a game so you can't really squish it into any established pattern...Maplestory is a glorified chat program with more things you can do with your friends. Once you make those friends...you'll feel attached to the game. I don't honestly think Maple is that great of a game...but I definitely put more effort into it than I do any other game I've ever played. I grew up with my group of friends on Maple since 2005 and quitting just isn't an option for me anymore. I'd be throwing away so many friends.

i would say at the max 2020. we are nearing the black mage as a finale last boss (at least i would think so) and the game is easy as is. make it any more easy and even monkeys can play maplestory
