A few questions about G.I.R.L.s
I know there are a lot of guys out there who play girl characters, but is it just me, or do other guys have a really hard time telling that those G.I.R.L.s aren't real girls? I mean (to me at least) it seems pretty obvious when one of them tries too hard to sound feminine (they just end up sounding like really non-straight guys).
Also, some G.I.R.L.s say that they play girl characters "because they'd rather stare at a girl than a guy." Does that just mean they're really lonely and think of themselves as "forever alone?"
Also, can guys tell if a girl is playing on a guy character? For instance, I have a few guy characters, and some really obvious G.I.R.L. tried gold digging off my aran, but I don't think they realized that I was actually a girl. Guys should be able to tell if a player is a fellow guy or not, right? o_O
Anyway, weigh in below

Thank god you cleared that up for everyone, if you hadn't posted that then no one would have a clue what the acronym G.I.R.L meant.
Lol. My sister plays guy characters because it bothers her when people try to pick up her girl characters. Even though she still talks like a girl, most guys don't figure out that she's a girl. No one has even ever suspected that she was a gey guy or anything. o.o

I don't think too much of it.
Unless their language obviously suggests their gender when they talk or have IGN of a certain language, I cannot discern the difference.
it's a little rude to base such things based on stereotypes and assumptions dont you think? just take someones word for it. Who cares if they're a guy or a girl, as long as theyré genuinely nice and dont try to abuse your friendship, then it doesnt really matter
female equips are cheaper so guys play as girls
avatars aren't required to be representative and they offer different aesthetic options.
there can also be economic reasons for it (the old female dexless thief example, or that it's easier to find good/cheap male equips).
on the flipside you do have weird people who want to exploit it for benefits from other players, but it's pretty dumb and insulting how people always assume that.
In one game I had an online guy friend.
He was amazing person to train and party with.
But one day he started typing "gayish" or very "girly" I didn't know why but I was confused who he was.
I even asked my guild leader if he knew who if my friend was a guy or a girl or is gay, my guild leader responded "idk"
We talked about everything a guy would talk about like boobs, cars, sports, beer and meat.
No girl stuff like periods, being pregnant, makeup or other stuff that girls talk about.
So I just acted he was my first online gay friend.
Few months later I found out he was not a he, he was a she.
I was shocked, I was sad, my best training partner was a girl in real life and I didn't even know.
But we are still friends, but it is never the same.
I just talk the same on my girl characters(all of 1 of them, until Angelic Buster anyway), and people think I'm a tomboy.
I can never tell when a guy is playing a girl character..unless they tell me.
I cant tell when I girl is playing on a guy character either. Some people are just really obvious, but others are just either really good at pretending, or just naturally talk like that. I'll never learn to tell the difference

Oh god I remember that...
