Best Bang For Your Buck Class

Not to be mistaken for "which class is best unfunded". Which class gives you the most damage/improvement per meso spent.

Well yeah, but a 500k range Kanna is a joke compared to a 500k range NW.

You don't understand. Funding vs damage curves are not linear. For a number of reasons:

1. Funding itself isn't linear. 30% stat equips cost much more than three times 10% stat equips.
2. Classes have different damage output efficiency in different funding stages. Some need a certain level of funding to get off the ground (NWs/NLs), others are loaded with tons of % stat/boss/total at the start and therefore start strong but get weaker later (DA).
3. Certain classes cap much easier than others. This is why even though Zero is rank 1 on the dps charts, they're never going to get Hero gloves.
4. Some classes are more mobile/agile than others. Mobility and agility matter for dps, case in point, pre-revamp Mechs.
5. A few classes have special conditions (Buff duration for DrKs and DBs, player skill for F/P and Zeros, latency for DWs) that greatly influence their dps.
6. Certain classes have personal revive/invincibility skills (NW, BW, DrK, Bishop, Phantom, Shade, Paladin).
7. Others have valuable party buffs and binds (Kanna, Bishop, BW)

If you want to know which class will give you the most damage per funding spent, then at a minimum you need to specify whether you're talking about high (2 M+ range), medium (700k-2 M) or low (under 700k) funding.

Xenons are probably the answer due to easy investments.
It's ALWAYS simple to find which equip to improve.

Xenons are pretty easy early game, from what I hear, because no stat is wasted (except INT) which means that cubing should be pretty easy to begin with. Scrolls from the anniversary shop should give +All Stat which means there's little problem there in increasing range,
I can't say too sure for Zeros cos I haven't played one yet but I hear they're probably one of the more funding-efficient classes. However, you might want to get a dSI which miiight be somewhat of a problem. That, AND the fact that you might want to land your character on a +1 atk speed inner potential/
Then there's FPs. Seriously, low fundings take you so far during 4th job... 150k range = 4-5m on bosses per line for 8 lines. Amaze. Plus, %Int is really cheap so you won't need to cube anything on your own.
MMs are really good too, and in 4th job, no cooldown snipe = godly for bosses.
Shadowers hit really hard but they're pretty slow. That and %Luk is really pricey, as always, so late game you'll find yourself having trouble increasing your range.

Prolly Xenon, Zero or Demon Avenger.

I might be dated, but IIRC Xenon gets high damage rather easily, but becomes insanely expensive once you start going for the top-tier gear.
