Ellen Page, Why

First off id like to give my utmost respect to Ellen Page for coming out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hlCEIUATzg (5:20)

but let it be known that i no longer have a reason to live

I cant say that i didnt see this coming, but i was always hoping it never would.
Juno was one of the coolest chicks i have ever seen, in my eyes Juno WAS Ellen Page, and that is what i will always remember her as.
now there is no one left

@LikeeNo0ther: You 'come out' as straight....its just not made during public announcements like some homosexuals feel is required. That pressure is only there as a result of the initial negativity that was brought on by heavily religious people.

@metaghost4 @skyenets knows i made a good point, so i dont think he will be responding anymore on the topic.

@WindowLegs: If you were straight, you wouldn't have to 'come out'. It's not just religion/society that makes it hard for someone to come out as homosexual; sometimes the pressure and fear of whether or not you'll get acceptance from your own family/friends is larger than the fear of what society will think of you.

@Skyenets: yes. America is overrun by religion. The bible says it is wrong to be gay so in turn a lot of believers follow it and hate on gays.
The only states that do not allow homosexuals to get married are the most religous states..
So that's basically all but 17 states?

@Skyenets: i never said it was JUST relligious people. The only states that do not allow homosexuals to get married are the most religous states. They only hate on gays becasue it is in the bible or have had it drilled into them over time that it is an "illness". The only time i see homophobia is when there is an announcement of someone coming out as gay. These things do not need to be announced as it is nothing and will only single that person out as being unique. As i said in my first post, if it is such a big story just because someone is homosexual why isnt it the same if i come out as heterosexual? It only causes problems when the media/the person involved decides to announce it and get everyone involved, when really it should be like a straight person and just let it be. i never said it was nonexistent so dont make that up.
@Skyenets: yes, as i said it is from the religious people. They seem to think that it is worthy of the death penalty. I just pointed out that it only happens in the lesser developed countries that are pretty much overrun by religion.
It's not JUST religious people. My father is not at all religious but comes from a European country in which it is thought of as an illness. He has lived in the Netherlands for over 30 years now though. In all first world countries there is still a lot of homophobia going around. A great example is the fact that homosexuals aren't even allowed to get married in the US (Not all states that is).

Perhaps you've never experienced the hatred gay people get because you're not gay yourself. You're not close to it. Hence why you probably shouldn't be addressing the problem as if it's nonexistent.
@oAZNvTOFUo: i have not seen all to much discrimination in first world nations. The hate seems to be exaggerated. The only hate i see is from those religious people who no one really cares about. It seems like you want there to be more hate towards gay people.
The world exists out of more than just first world nations. Besides, even in the western world homosexuality is still treated badly.

People can be so selfish when popular people announce their sexuality. This goes for oridinary people too. If they're remotely cute, "omg what tragedy. such loss. I can't be with them anymore." It's not like Ellen or any other person who has to deal with such stupidity would've gotten with your childish ass anyway. The fact that it is 2014 and people are still going wild about people coming out as bi/gay/ or whatever is astounding. Why the hell are the choices being made by individuals for their own PERSONAL lives being construed into a matter that concerns everyone? I will never understand people that do that.

@WindowLegs girl, da hell are you talking about? People actually get killed for being gay in some parts of Africa and Europe. Recently there was a news segment about some African country forcing women to be rap3d by men so that they'd rescind their "lesbianess" and become "full women".

You seem to miss the fact that being straight and being gay in our world are considered to be two immensely different things. Do straight people get discriminated and hated because they like the opposite sex? No. Well, do gay people get discriminated and hated because they are attracted to people of their own sex? Yes, absolutely. There are places around the world where being gay is considered to be an abomination - some countries do not even believe in "such thing" as homosexuality and some actually sentence people to death for being homosexuals. Put yourself the shoes of gays who are in such countries - if they were to come out to the public about their sexual orientation, they would be mocked, jeered, humiliated, and killed. Not to mention the fact that we have people in our country who oppose/degrade homosexuality also (for example, those who blindly spew the word "gay" on the internet); some states do not even grant homosexual people equal rights. I say, Ellen Page, as well as many other openly gay celebrities, are brave and admirable for coming out of their closets despite the harsh environment.

But then again, that is just my opinion.

I don't really care if anyone's sexuality has changed. They're still people, no?

"but let it be known that i no longer have a reason to live"
if that was your reason for living, it sure as hell was a stupid one

It's 2014, it's about time people got over this whole gay thing. It shouldn't have to be a big deal when someone comes out anymore.

Did Juno that Ellen Page is gay?

On a more serious note, I would say her bravely coming out to public about her sexual orientation made her a more "cooler chick" than before.
