7 speed bike help

So we bought my brother a road bike with like 7 different gear speeds
problem is the bike is a little too big for him hes short like 5'7, it has like 26 inch wheels

i was wondering if anyone knew if we can get smaller sized wheels or if we should just exchange it for a smaller bike

my mom says you cant change the wheels cus its a gear bike but i say different, ive tried googling but all i get is stuff on how to take care of the gears/ how the gears work

also heres the bike
Hopefully youre not totally screwed, but I was a sponsored cyclist and I may be able to see whats up. In regards to your concerns, you generally want to buy a bike where you can be on your tiptoes while sitting down on the seat raised about 2 inches. The thing with what your mom said is wrong because how would u change a tire without taking it off the bike. Its important to get another wheel that fits the bike or else you could be in trouble. I havent been on a bike in a while so I'm assuming that 26 in wheels are 700x23-27c. Unfortunately road bikes work best with those sizes so if the seat is already at its lowest, you'll have to find a way to get the bike exchanged. Im not sure why the salesman didnt have ur brother get it sized before he bought it. Best of luck though!
yeah thanks, he actually did a couple of "test runs" after we saw the proper technique on youtube and he said that its not that bad, i told him he should pactice a little more before he can take it to school, atleast now he doesnt have to take 2 different buses
thanks, we actually just saw a youtube vid about it, one problem tho the bike seems to, not exactly change gears, but when he pedals the chain like clicks and the pedals go loose for about a second, is that suppose to happen?
I just got a nice mtn bike a few months ago and at first I had this problem too. I found that it happens when you change gears when you are pedaling fast (or consistently) enough. To fix this he should just change the gear around once at a time while he is biking until the clicking stops. I think the clicking is from the chain and gear not being aligned. I might be completely wrong on terminology and the technical stuff but that is what I found worked for me.
of course ur not going to be tall enough to straddle the seat standing. u newbie, u need 2 step up on the pedals first then sit down....u put ur foot on the pedal first and step up and u should be able to sit down. and the seat is high like that so that you can pedal more efficiently.
you can't change the wheels, they're fit for the frame and its brakes. if the bike is too large, you need a smaller frame size, but you bought a GMC Denali from Big 5. so you're outta luck.

also the bike has 700C size rims which is 622 mm in diameter, just sayin'.

im gonna assume you bought it assembled since you dont know if you can change the tires, if so, why didnt you just take him to the store with you? that way you couldve seen what size was a good fit. IMO you should just go back and see if you can exchange it for a smaller one
