Why wont nexon update the guild system?

I always wondered why nexon never really dove into the "Guild" aspect of the game. Like the emblems havent been touched in years, the ranking system is all funked up, and last major thing they gave us to do as a guild was flag race and even that has gotten tiresome. I just feel they could do so much more with the guild system like other games have, Guild vs guild team battles, guild pq's, better buffs, guild being able to represent towns, the rankings actually doing something for guilds like added buffs, etc.

Are things different in the other servers like KMS and EMS? and does anyone think nexon will ever do anything with the guild system thats worth while?

The old GPQ back in the day used to be my absolute favorite PQ. Good times. I would love for them to bring that back with better rewards and maybe a harder boss than Murgoth at the end.

Alot of the input is awesome, and i agree and disagree on some aspects but i would like to see a more competitive look on guilds, and just more party based content for them, come you gotta admit a guild team pvp would rock, and things like the old ghost pq from mu lung but just guild wise would be fun to, also a better rank system for guilds and a better rank system within the guild, i also hate the face guilds lose gp when i member quits or is kicked -_- thats always gonna bother me

@chaosh: I've always thought a guild smega would be really cool, where it lists the guild icon and name next to your message. It would allow guilds to gain recognition much faster. Also, maybe some kind of nx equip that has your guild emblem on it like a t-shirt or cape, maybe as you progress through the guild ranks you unlock more of this stuff, or maybe Jr.'s and the Master get access to an exclusive equip to advertise their rank.

I just think that there are tones of ways Nexon could make guilds feel more "guildy", these examples are good because they are really easy to implement and don't actually affect gameplay, damage, etc. They are just reminders to everyone that you are from a specific guild.

Well, the PQ maps and the PQ shop is also pretty dead, so I guess they can revamp some of the PQ's as well as change the shop, then give 2 types of coins for the PQ store, regular coins and guild coins. If you clear a PQ, you can get PQ points, but if you complete a PQ with guildies, you can also get guild coins.

Side-note and tangent, I don't know why some PQs are level restricted to 200 when the cap is now 250. Nixon, pls.

They should make a guild hall, where only your guild can enter thru guild tab and go ranked guild quest.
Ex. S rank mission "Kill CRA bosses" for guild points or something like that.

@iamaurian: Indeed, I agree. Kind of forgot about that kind of content while ranting about multicolored cubes I guess, but I agree

I suppose it wouldn't be too hard for Nexon to take old/existing content and slapping a 'Guild ranked mode' on it. Guild Ranked Lotus and CRA speed runs, Guild Ranked Tower of Oz, giving guilds their own rankings in Star Planet and GvG mini games (Legends Return is the closest thing we have to actual GvG PvP), Guild Donation Boxes (the boxes shows the guild with the most donation name and emblem, both a nice meso sink and a way of guilds to advertise themselves - might world better in Reboot, I suppose), heck, just make a 'Guild Jump Party Quest' with all the random jump quest maps that nobody even knows exist.

Again, I'm kind of against giving too many rewards for this kind of content, specially because Nexon should work to make said content enjoyable to begin with, but, anyways, I suppose we have to pressure Nexon and show them that we want this instead of more cubes. Ok, why not both, but, you guys get the point

@juniormage: Still as far as I know you have to click on the character to do that, there isn't a place to just type names in to invite. If I'm advertising the guild with a mini game or in my shop and people show interest they usually don't end up applying, either because they forgot they had to or they just don't know how to.

@chaosh: Definitely agree with all of this, except that I believe one of the reasons players "enjoy" group play is because it adds a factor of exclusivity, the players get to feel like their group is important and in some way superior to the other groups.

Knowing this, it would be profitable to base content around competition between guilds because it would serve to improve the bond between the players. Even if there is no obvious reward like cubes or scrolls or whatever, providing players with the means to feel like they accomplished something together in a group is an enormous reward in and of itself.

@cyanlime If you are a guild leader you can invite people to the guild page and they can apply from there

I'm just annoyed at how we have to tell people to search up the guild and apply to it rather than just invite them. If they fixed that it would be a lot easier to get my new guild up and running.. >.<

The main purpose of guilds (or whatever they end up calling it) in any game is to bring people together, to incentivise people together, etc. So basically, a guild is nothing more than a bunch of players choosing to join together and play as a group, and the guild system assists by giving players the tools to administer said group and have their guild name appear under their names. Everything else is a bonus, being in a guild should be rewarding by itself, if people join guilds simply to get rewards, then you don't truly have 'party play' or 'guilds', you have people who happen to play with random strangers because they need to get some reward.

I mean, there is nothing stopping guilds from doing their own custom events or speed-running bosses and posting videos on Basil, challenging other guilds to do the same. Isn't that the point of guilds? Having fun with a group of friends and getting to know new people? Sure, Nexon could give guilds more content. Or they could work on content for everyone, I mean, why restrict a party quest or boss to guilds only?

I suppose there are ideas for the guild system that doesn't involve PQs, bosses and rewards, guilds in Maplestory could really use some help spreading their names and become more well-known, but let's face it, how many players are REALLY want that? To be me specific, how many players truly care about their guilds (not the people in the guilds, but the guild itself, it's reputation, it's organization, etc) more than they care about, say, Violet Cubes or White Bonus Cubes?

Guild boss speed-runs that are used to tally our rank at the end of every week and guilds get specific crap pending on where they place.
Total exp accumulated while training within a guild tallied in a similar fashion.
I'm sure there are a ton of other things that r&d can implement if they weren't so busy with whatever else is coming out.

LF> GPQ that drops prots, safetys, cubes, guardians, etc. I would be doing that 24/7.

GPQ actually being relevant would be a start.

yaaaass thats what i really want to. More content for guilds. Stuff that lets us compete with other guilds and the removal of those hacked guilds! My guild is almost lvl 12 and going up the rankings feels nice haha. But ya a buffed up GPQ would be nice. Ranked GPQ that gives rewards like dojo or oz tower (emblem) would be nice.

I seriously liked how the guild system was before. Paying mesos to upgrade the skills and so on, now you gotta pay with points everytime and plus you have to pay to change the icon for like what 150k pts? Some guilds used to change their icons monthly depending on what holidays we had.. Which I kinda enjoyed seeing lol
