It only says that the trapezoid has 1/3 the height of the larger triangle.

1/2bihi = 1/2 (bi + bt)ht
ht = 1/3 hi
1/2bihi = 1/6 (bi+bt)hi

bi/2 = bi/6+bt/6

2bi = bt
