Spam Damage Number Lines

ok so maybe someone could explain to me why my chain lightning hits 6 lines of damage when clearly the skill animation only shows me attacking once. hypothetically why do i need to hit 999k six times, why cant it just be 6,000k once. im pretty sick of this game how every class now just spams my monitor with numbers whenever theres a boss or something, i understand for classes like nightlord, they throw 8 stars so it should show 8 lines of damage when they attack once, but theres alot of other classes who have attacks that show like 1-3 attacks per key stroke and fill up my monitor with numbers, and before anyone says "oh well cuz u get more crits theres chance for more damage" ive herd it a billion times, lets say hypothetically the lowest numbers my CL will hit are 300k six times which is 1,800,000 damage total, and then if all my hits are crit and i hit 800k six times which is 4,800,000, why not just let me get one damage line that has a chance to hit between 1,800,000 damage and 4,800,000. excuse my grammar im dead tired when i wrote this.

i call the still being hit logic

if someone takes a flamethrower and holds trigger at straw dummy for like 20sec
the straw dummy wont only get hit for the 1st sec he takes constant damage until 20sec are up

I disagree with this. I've worked hard to get my weak ass NL to where it is now. I imagine it wouldn't give me as much of a sense of achievement seeing one line than multiple lines hitting cap. I'm fine with what they did with RA as I don't need others to see my damage. But I need to see it, many many lines of it <3 as those numbers are what keeps me goin and sticking to this class despite the overwhelming downsides.
it's hard to decide what's cooler: more numbers (gigas wave, dual blades, kaisers) or bigger numbers (finale ribbon, trinity, angelic busters)
The answer is obviously 'both' (i.e.: Xenon's Purge Lob Masquerade: Snipe skill).

Marksman's piercing arrow used to hit 1 time, now it hits 6 times. And actually, as a marksman, I actually say that I'm quite happy it hits more times.

because that would make skills seem boring and slow

You make a good point. In a perfect world, one attack would hit one line, but we all know maplestory's far from perfect.

O.o
For animation
I guess it's accounting for multiple strikes
like SP hits would be close to quadthrow
or something silly and chain lightning I guess
would be like 6 separate bolts fused in one
(use your imagination )

Practically speaking though, you would want
more hits in an attack because it would make
your damage more consistent and stable.
ex: 300% of a 1k-5k range
will make ur damage fluctuate while
a similar range with 4 to 6 chances
adds a lot of consistency to your overall
DPM. At least that's my personal logic
to it. Also having muli hits attack procs
more chances for specialty effects, my
favorite bring ohkos. Another thing to add
is it helps when fighting against monster
you miss on considering more hits = more
chances to not miss I suppose(AB in pyramid).

Though if you hit max or train on monsters your level
or never get darknessed and never have any specialty
effects, all my above points don't apply to you o.o
