VII and V would be the top two. I'm going to place Bravely Default as my third, since it's a Final Fantasy in everything but name.

Legend III gets an honorable mention, even though it's technically a SaGa game.

FFX and FFX-2

And that's it. Those are the ones I'll remember for the rest of my life.

1. All Final Fantasy games
2. ...

I'd probably have to say though I like FFX the most, it was the first FF I ever played.
Then probably FFVIICC (never bawled so hard over a game while knowing how it ends) ...
3rd place I suppose would be FFXIII, I've been playing it lately. Really looking forward to FFXV

FF Tactics for gba (I've completed 300 missions in this game 12 times) , FF10, FF2, FF7.
This is based off how many times I've replayed.
Favs in order are FF7, FF Tactics for gba, FF10, FF2.
Never beat/played FFIV/5/6/10-2/11/12/13/ and psp games. I've played dissidia though.

1. Final Fantasy X - it had a fun story, fun combat, and i loved the characters
2. Final Fantasy VII - it was pretty fun, but i played this at a young age, so i don't remember TOO much about the game. all i know is that i spent 100 hours on it
3. Final Fantasy Tactics - it was a fun game to play, kind of like chess

I've only ever played 9 and it was great. I played a bit of Crystal Chronicles, which I don't really count as a FF game, and I played some FF Tactics Advance when I was little. It was ok but not great and I remember quitting because of the map with perma-death. I should probably try going back to the game at some point now, especially after having gotten into the Fire Emblem series, which always has perma-death. Other than that, I've watched my brother play 10 and Tactics before and a bit of 7. So despite my limited experience with the series:
1. 9
2. 7
3. 10
FF7, FF13 and FF10
I love all the games but I did enjoy those the most, not sure why FF13 has gets so much hate, I even loved FF13-2.
Because of FF13's linearity (I personally didn't mind it as much as the die-hard haters), and infuriatingly terrible characters (especially Snow and his I'm-going-to-save-the-day! attitude that became annoying in the first 30 minutes).
Story was average for both games, but they had a great combat system and soundtrack, so there's that.
All in all the FFXIII series was mediocre.

My top 3 are:
1) FF Tactics - War of the Lions. Released only a few months after FFVII, it seemed it was overshadowed by the success of that game and thus ignored by many Such a shame since it had an extremely mature, and very believable story, with a touch of fantasy elements to keep align with the theme of the FF series. The PSP version's re-translation upped the quality of the story as it made it Shakespearean. Great gameplay as well with the amount of customization that was way ahead of its time.
2) FFVI - Argued by critics as one of the best FF games to date. Gameplay is fantastic and its story envelops real-life themes and problems superbly.
3) FFXII - Gameplay is fantastic, the world of Ivalice in this game is enormous, and great story (though not as solid as FF Tactics). Soundtrack was disappointing though.

Honorable mentions are FFX and FFIX. My least favorites are FF1 and FFII.
