I just benched 305 lbs
What better way to celebrate Christmas than setting a new personal record? Had to do it twice 'cuz the first time the camera wasn't on, first time went a lot smoother but I'm still happy I got it up. I also had 3 glasses of champagne right before this.

@xdarkshynobi: the rep scheme itself isnt terrible but the program is good. iv ran 531 once and it added to my lifts. if your doing conditioning already i wouldn't recommend it though because it does take it out of you
@rixworkwix I'll be honest I am just doing it because everyone says it is a good way to train. Pyramid style lifting, followed by a deload or rest day on the same week. Depending on if I go hard in the paint. This doesn't include conditioning I do everyday. I usually do this kind of training on my free time & not on my coaches time, because who the **** only lift 1 time a day?
@xdarkshynobi: you just going by the rep scheme of 531 or you on the 531 program?
@someid: You don't "have" to do anything in weight lifting. If you go around telling people what they have to do you're taking this a bit too seriously man. And I dropped 305 lbs on my chest and didn't suffer any internal hemorrhaging? Wow thanks dude, you're kind of indirectly saying my chest is made of steel, I appreciate it. As for your picture, you should work on keeping your wrists straight and you should also refrain from using gloves, no girl wants a man with baby hands.
@jessy0245: I'm 180 lbs.
@someid: wtf do you even know about centric and eccentrics movement.
2hot4me cannot handle dat sex appeal.
@xdarkshynobi: wtf are you saying
270 at 2 reps 183 lbs I can repeat this maybe 1 more time. I never tried doing bench while not zapped of energy. Op no doubt goes to the gym 4-7 days a week. My goal is to hit 5 reps of 270 while dropping the amount from 5>3>1. I can easily do 2 plates 6-8 muplitple sets(4).
@someid Bru you got so much to say why not mention what your routine looks like. I'll laugh if you say some kind of bro split with no accessory work
Went to the gym today & only did 3 reps of 4 45 & 2 25 only got to 2 sets before I backed off. So yaaa no PR today.
How much do you weigh though?

Nah. You dropped your sht OK. Going down is half of the movement and you have to do it in a controlled manner (with resistance). Also you have to keep the bar straight at all times. I wouldn't even consider that one rep. You half asse d a rep. That's a half rep.
@rixworkwix: Yeah I will definitely stay at 305 until I can do it more controlled and without the unevenness, then I'll do 310 before I attempt the big 3 plates. But thanks man! I appreciate the advice, and gratz on the 255 it's only up from there.
@kevqn: Thanks bro! My progress has been slow lately but I'm glad I'm still improving. And it's good you're back in the gym, a long break can be a demotivater but keep at it and goodluck with your journey.
@calabari: That's highly unlikely. I weigh 165 and have been going to the gym regularly for about 16 months now and wouldn't call myself a slacker. I'm still at 205 1RM.
I'm impressed with your improvement, I remember when you used to post videos like two years ago (I think it was that long). I just started going back to the gym after a 3 month break. I had to take a break because of my job and couldn't physically handle both tbh. I can only bench 135, but I'm always excited to increase in weight
@calabari: have to disagree with any basiler being able to do it in a years time. unless some basiler on here has gifted genetics for benching and strength and just dosnt know it.
@benchpresser: wish i saw the first attempt because that rep was hella bumpy. not trying to take away the acheivment in the slightetest. would this pass in a meet, no but can you tell people you can hit 305 but it will be bumpy, yes. my personal best is 255 for a single at 210lb. pretty poverty but il work on it in future. gratz man. wouldnt attempt a 315 till you can either do this for a clean single or a double with 1 extremely clean single and 1 bumpy
@cuddymd: I was already on Basil, I didn't have to get on it, jeez.
@calabari: Lol nah man, unless you're 250 lbs with a background in some kind of sport you're definitely not going to be benching over 300 in a years time. That's quite absurd. Most people who gym on the regular struggle with 2 plates (225) after a year. Thanks though, I hope to hit 315 in around a months time!
@someid: Just to clarify some basic physiology and physics for you, if I had "dropped" a bar with 305 lbs on my chest it would have caved in my chest cavity and probably would have killed me. That's a very big misconception when you see people do what I did in the video, the "drop" you see is actually preparation to initiate my leg drive which plays a big role in the bottom half of the lift, versus the top half where my triceps take over. It was by no means a completely controlled pause rep like you see in power lifting competitions, but I wasn't in a power lifting competition so I'm not gonna do a pause rep when I'm going for my 1 rep max, I prefer the touch-and-go method because it's more explosive, thus generating more power for my lift.
you drop it and bounce. lol..
For a one rep max with iffy form I'd say any one of these basilers could do that within a years time. But gratz bro, 315 next.
while you were busy doing menial tasks i was leveling to to 240. next time do something that requires at least a tiny bit of skill.
*benches 305 lbs, gets on basil to tell people*
i havent heard that song since that time i fell off my dinosaur
@ayokev: Haha thanks bro, I hope to hit 3 plates real soon! That has been my goal since forever. Also I'm 180 lbs.
Making all kinds of gains! How much do you weigh dude? Hit the 3 plate (315) bench next!
305lb? Did You bench your mom?
crank dat soulja boy
@nolen: They've been known to.
@4evavoodoo: Train hard and eat plenty.
@sirkibblex2: I intimidate me too.
