I always had town lags.
Either you're alone in a town and then cassandra or maple admin npc turns purple in the map is when you get the lag because you're in range of them
maps like edelstein or ellina are practically traps because they're large maps
and when I get the lag I get like 1 frame per 20 seconds and spend like 30 minutes trying to go the portal out of the town and end up going side to side of the portal
The delay for the lag increases per frame so when I'm 1 frame per minute or something I just spam the cs button so I can try to escape the map again.

I used to have this and found out a solution to fix it was to do with my laptop charger.

It's definitely Nexon if people are lagging on good computers.
My toaster has town lag but it's not even very severe on there. My laptop which is 100x better can't handle the lag whatsoever...

I have tried[i] every single[/i] little "tip" to fix lag in towns, nothing works. At all. On either computer. I've been having this for like a year and a half, no solutions.
The only thing I can do is just avoid most towns

@Bleky try shutting more of those programs down.

Also when in towns, try to avoid big mobs of NPCs. They are the cause of the lag. My friend's computer has no problem in big maps such as Magatia. But once you go right to where to the area in Magatia with at least 10+ NPCs, i start having super lag spike, where i have to hold a button and wait for 1min to move all the way to an area uncrowded my NPCs. Main reason why I try to avoid Leafre since the spawning spot is always right next to a bunch of NPCs.

Edit: @Bleky try giving us your specs. We might be able to tell you if your computer is actually bad or good... If you dont, go to "my computer", right click, and go to properties. Give us the processor and RAM. These are the very basics to tell if your computer is good or not.

but its really strange to see some people lag in new brand/good computer o.o

I've heard (Since no one's actually said this yet) that Cassandra and Gaga are making it lag, due to a script failure, making them load all of their previous outfits.

I had a feeling it had to do with the NPC's, I remember Cassandra causing problems way back.

My computer doesn't botch up at all, it's just the game itself. I can have many things running at once and move around them all without any lag, it's just maplestory that becomes unresponsive, and it's not my internet connection, otherwise I wouldn't be able to run youtube skype calls a stream a couple games all at the same time and still have everything running smooth.

saaaame mines new acer and it lags SO bad at towns even with liek nobody in the same map as me, but idk if its because i play in the new 1366x768 mode

I get this too. For some reason it is only the town maps... once I leave the town map the whole system seems to speed up so much more haha.
But there are the times when it lags too much to leave the town map so I restart the game. I'm sure you went through this, and I'm sure it isn't my pc because it only happens in town maps, no other maps.

Sometimes it's your computer., but other times its because of NPCs (Gaga, Admin and Cassandra)

The problem is your computer and/or internet. Many people including myself have no lag issues in towns
