Thank you, Nexon

Just an PSA and a thank you to Nexon. They're improving their customer services ten-fold.

Multiple friends of mine were hacked. We sent tickets 1 week ago. Within 1 week, Nexon saved my friends' accounts, returned thousands of dollars in stolen items to the victims, and BANNED the hackers' accounts.

Thank you, Nexon.

@icebeam34 One of my friends was on vacation and hasn't touched his computer in a while. Still got hacked.

People who spend thousands of dollars on this game have good computers, good antivirus, and they are decently smart enough to not visit and download things.

As for Nexon not being able to return items, this happened a couple of hours ago: http://i.imgur.com/hJNmdgI.jpg
I can't tell if you're trolling or what with the karma coin generators and that items don't cost money or whatnot but in regards to "giving out your information," another well-known hacker said these words:

"Database leak? Don't jump to conclusions...

Remote Administration Tool or a simple DoX + SE using customer support. Don't over think it."
Conversely, I quit for a while on this account (created in 2009), and came back after a few month break. Tried to login and found I had been permanently banned. I checked my email and saw that 7 days prior I had been asked to reactivate my account. What happened in those 7 days? I emailed Nexon and all they could tell me was that I had been banned for breaking ToS. I know myself that I have done nothing on this account that would break ToS, but Nexon can't help me at all. At least they got my 7 years of effort flushed down the drain, huh.
Post an appeal on the forums. They unban people who were mistakenly banned.

@icebeam34:

Dumb enough? You mean dumb enough to add one of your friends on Facebook? Or add one of your friends on Skype?

These are things that people do every day that shouldn't bare any consequence but because of Nexon's poor security system they are punished for it. Nothing to do with stupidity. I would say the only stupidity here is your ignorance.

You got some issues, man.

@icebeam34: I mean if you're an ass and out to exploit people's good intentions then go for it. On another note, I never knew a memory leak was my fault, who would have known.
Wrong.

A while ago, people were going to Nexon support with your e-mail + full name + birthday if they knew it (so any of your friends or friends of friends could easily obtain it) and if you cried enough to support about you forgot your info they would actually stupidly blindly give it to you.

I know several people who got hacked in this way (and other ways) without ever downloading anything or giving out their info.

You shouldn't make condescending posts like that when you have no idea what you're talking about...
I actually do know what I'm talking about. However, this method could only work if you are dumb enough to give out personal information.
If your friends got hacked they don't deserve their items back IMO. To get hacked, they need to accept a virus and run it while logging into maplestory...
btw Nexon shouldn't be able to return items....
and items are not worth any irl money remember?
Wow.

So what actually happened? Did they comment? I'm guessing it wasn't a DB leak after all. Congrats.
Not saying I doubt you since there was a leak at one point in time before, but people are claiming there is a recent database leak. Has there been any proof of that as of yet or are these are just rumors still? Again not saying it's not true just thinking because I have yet to see any real proof about this leak.
No no, this recent one is mostly just rumors. I wouldn't doubt that there were faults on his friends' part, but I also wouldn't doubt that there may have been a data-leak somewhere along the lines.
As some "experts" have said, it is possible to gain information to someone's account by knowing said person's Skype. There's a lot of possibilities as to what happened, but I'm not thinking too much about it since I wasn't affected nor do I care if I do.
I didn't give away my info or get a virus and was hacked a while ago, a GM recreated my items that were stolen http://imgur.com/wLpc5A7
Doing that would make 2 identical items in the game? Could u not have just gotten hacked and gave it to a friend on a proxy and HWID Changer and make tons of bank? If you lost the item it's your fault.
There has been a data-leak on Nexon's part some time ago, therefore it is possible that it wasn't his friends' fault for getting hacked.
Nexon should be able to return items if it was their fault.
Items are most definitely worth IRL money by means of Paypal and other sources. You'll be surprised how many people are willing to pay money for items..
all items are owned by Nexon... If nexon cared enough they would track all items being sold on the black market and delete them all. Also, this wasn't a data leak or there would be a PSA from a nexon. It wasn't their fault kids are downloading karma koin generators lmao.
