Nintendo

the nx will be a phone like smart device

With Nintendo's promise to expand their mobile presence, this seems like the only logical avenue.

All Wii U games look absolutely stunning.
At least the first party ones, not the defective ports.
It's not about graphics, no one plays games for graphics for the most part anyway. Plus, graphics on Wii U are absolutely stunning. The Wii U was marketed poorly and misunderstood by consumers, also, PS4 hype is just too much for Nintendo. Everyone just has to buy a PS4, but a Wii U isn't necessary (from what I've read). However, nowadays I really don't understand why anyone would say the Wii U is doing bad, it has some of the best games out there and it's just a great system overall. I do believe it feels sorta gimmicky (that's what many critics say) but that shouldn't really deter consumers, since they have a wide range of games and controllers out there to use. Also agree with the mobile thing, they already have a 3DS, not sure why they'd go further into it... It's possible that it may just be a spinoff or addition to 3DS. Who knows.

@Draception: I didn't specifically mean graphics, but I couldn't find out how to word it properly at the time but I think I can put it to words better now. What I meant are the graphical limitations, or how powerful the system is. Due to the fact that the Wii U is less powerful that the XB1 and PS4, many of the best games that have been coming out aren't being released on the Wii U because it can't handle them. I know that this isn't the only reason why those games haven't been coming out on the Wii U, but once Nintendo has the hardware to handle those games, it should be much easier to get those developers to bring their games to this new system. The Wii U isn't a bad system. It has great exclusives, but it doesn't have the great 3rd party non-exclusive games that both the PS4 and XB1 have which are the reason why people get one of those two systems. If Nintendo makes a system that could handle those 3rd party non-exclusives (and they manage to convince the developers to release those games for that system) and that you could play all of the usual Nintendo favorites on, it would definitely be a massively popular system and would sell amazingly well.
Well said!
I think it's going to be a new console system like what the first poster said. After seeing how badly the Wii U sold, I think Nintendo realized that they need a system that can actually compete with the Xbox One and PS4 at least graphically so they could expand their playerbase. What they're doing with mobile games I think is to combat emulators on mobile devices (all nintendo games were taken off of a site for ROMs a while ago after a copyright complaint), so I think they're just going to do what Square Enix did with some of their older games and port them to mobile platforms. Also, if Nintendo was looking to make a phone, they'd be making contracts with a bunch of companies other than just one that deals with mobile games. Nintendo also doesn't need to create another mobile device since 3DS sales are still going strong and their creation of a new mobile device could potentially hurt those sales, so it'd be a bad business decision overall.
As long as it supports game cube controllers and has muh fav mascot IPs, I don't really care what it is. I'm buying it and will love it regardless
I really doubt that. I'm kind of expecting something on par with X1/PS4...but then again you could be right...Nintendo seems to be constantly shooting itself in the foot.
Nintendo likes to release things in the middle of console cycles. It's only been like almost 3 years. They will fail if they made a Wii U.5 lol My logic is based on the fact that Nintendo is now run by investors who have no idea what their consumers want. Iwata, Shigeru, Reggie and the rest are just figureheads who are only capable of spouting "please understand" to quell our anger.
