Marksman

Vip Crossbow. Dmg or Att

I have a VIP crossbow, 193 attack and it has 21% total damage potential. I'm seriously considering cubing it for % attack because dmg doesn't add to my range, it adds to my damage output. Not really digging it. My range is nothing compared to a lot of people who ask me for my range and it kind of puts me down as a Marksman. What do you guys think I should do, recube or keep?

i would say keep the 21% total dmg, atleast to test it out for when the dmg cap raises.
i use atk % xbows for reguler mobs myself.
But yeah after the dmg cap raises, if you're still not satisfied with it, i'd say recube it.

I'd keep it until you hit 200, then recube for doss damage. 21% total damage is a really good potential for training o.o

@damian2o9:
The number as in the number in the skill box, and not the numbers that you produce while hitting a monster.

Congratulations.
Being that you're a xbow man, and you have high critical rates which also multiply your total damage, your total damage would already be super high. Adding 21% to that total damage would be bomb. 21% attk range would only be good if you're a high attack ranger like Kaiser with 100k range.
But thanks for the good information and recommendations, because now I've decided to keep my potential. Pretty stupid of me to care about what I have discussed, haha.

How hard can it be to just say a higher fake range? Anyways, % atk is typically stronger than % total damage but the difference is fairly minor in your case so I wouldn't cube it unless you're looking to get % boss on it later on.

In my opinion % Total Damage = % Attack the only difference is one shows up in range and the other one doesn't they are essentially the same. Whats the point in spending another 100 dollars to try and get 21% attack? In my opinion it's pointless. Who cares if people have higher range? once they see your damage and crap they'll wonder how you hit higher than them with a lower range. maplestory plays mind tricks on people making them think that total damage and % attack are different when they really are similar.

JUst stay. You will make other Marksman jelly when they find out you do more damage even though they have a little higher range.

Lol, is your self-esteem so low that you need strangers to validate some pixels...?

Anyways, while % total damage doesn't affect the appearance of your range, it does actually affect your damage output AKA your true range. Just look at the numbers on the screen as you attack monsters. And to get an accurate idea of what your true range is, simply multiple your displayed range by 1.21%. There you go.

I wouldn't recommend cubing your XBow unless you have sufficient amounts of cubes and are trying for % boss damage. Otherwise, 21% total damage is a very good boost overall.

I'n pretty sure the damage is a number, so I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

or you can just lie and tell people your range is 10k above your real range. Problem solved~

I think it'd be a stupid decision to cube over 21% total dmg

Total DMG and ATK are basically the same thing though, one just shows on your range. That's like saying cubing %boss or even PDR because it isn't on your range, the damage difference will be shown, and people will think you're pretty strong for your range. Even above average and accuse you of hacking which would has happened to some people where noobs coming back from a hiatus don't know anything. :x
