Hacker's twitter post.

The twitter post contains a pastebin link which I won't link here as it contains sensitive information and I can't be bothered to remove his profane words to bypass the silly filter here, but feel free to read his few paragraphs explaining his motives and actions. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft responds to this.

Steamed was hacked back in 2011, right after the PSN hack.
But people in Valve were like "don't worry guys" because it was in some crypted code on the credit card info and Valve forced everyone to change their passwords.

Don't you remember this?

I call bs, but I would change my password if I had an Xbox live account. You do it anyway at regular intervals right?
i try to login with these and they won't work
well if you read, he says "I have uploaded the entire credentials of every Xbox Live user in an nickname;email;password;joindate format, It contains nearly confidental-info on around 47 million users.
http://www.bayfiles.com/file/t3G9/sggNJm/Xbox_Live_Owned.tar.gz
size: 6.12GB

These credentials given below are probably old, these are when Xbox Live was newly annouced, probably dating back from 2009's or something, the newly-created accounts and the latest-ones are in that archive.
I'm pretty sure 7-zip opens .tar.gz files fine.
Ah, yep. I just checked. You're correct. Either way, it's a 6 GB file and doesn't effect me. If anyone wants to try it or find an article that describes it in further detail then be my guest.
He stated in the pastebin on the twitter post:
"nickname;email;password;joindate format"

Which, assuming they work and you can log in, would easily lead to credit card and other confidential information.

For those that try to search their names:
"These credentials given below are probably old, these are when Xbox Live was newly annouced, probably dating back from 2009's or something."

He posted a link to a .tar.gz file download containing the newer ones. I have not downloaded it yet as I don't run Linux nor know of any program otherwise, off of the top of my head, that can open a .tar.gz file (Plus I don't have Xbox Live so I can't be bothered). Download it at your own risk if you feel like checking for your information.
Like I said when the PSN was hacked - all a hacker needs is the right skill and time... all the 360 fanboys were saying "it could never happen to Microsoft", but it can, has and just did.

Remember that hacker = computer programmer and vice versa. A company may have a many as a hundred programmers, but that's still nothing compared to the number of programmers out there in the world looking to break a system.

Just from reading the first couple paragraphs of his pastebin he seems like a massive tool and a complete idiot (aside from being able to get all this information, which I doubt he did on his own)
