@DawnChu: What helps me is I write a long long list on notepad, open the game and go window mode, then I work my way down the list. Just scored letterbox (with an i) and Slapsies (with an L) so there are fun single names still out there.
I like also typing in Goggle "list of 4 letter words" "5 letter words" etc etc and it brings me to a long list of words for scrabble players to use and they're good lists to work your way through. wordfind.com I think is another good one because you can look up words that start with any letter and they will bring up a huge list. Name generators are fun too.
You seem to like Blanket as a name, have you tried using the capital i method with names like Blanky Blankie Blankets Blankute (heh) or those names with a color like 'PinkBlankie' or an adjective like 'FluffyBlanket'. @sadvirgin was right in saying if you think outside the box a little you might be delighted in the name you score.
Good luck.
My way to go is look for "obscene" words in different languages. I ended up with an Italian prostitute and French breasts,
I had two friends get permanently banned a few years ago with two different instances of this exact line of thinking...just something to keep in mind when you associate ign's with your main account. My rl bestfriend was actually permanently banned for joining a -guild- that was titled a certain obscenity. She still regularly tickets Nexon about that account three years later and has still gotten nowhere.
My way to go is look for "obscene" words in different languages. I ended up with an Italian prostitute and French breasts,
I've been using "iiz----" for my link mules.
ex. iizMihile, iizAvenger, etc.
I just try to think of proper nouns and descriptive adjectives that I relate to and try my best to fit them into an ign. Most of my more recent igns are just names of cities I have some sort of background with...Arkangelsk in Russia because I love it and the history of the town. Nizhyn because it's where I was born. Leninesque bc its a term applied to the first version of post revolutionary Soviet Union politcs...and I also just like attaching my name to the word attack. My real name is actually Alisa, tho.
Anyways, what I'm saying is just try to think of things that have personal meanings to you and find creative ways to combine or use them relevantly.
If GM's ban the wrong person, then they can't do their job right and shouldnt be a GM at all lol.
This rarely happens if ever, but the main point I was driving is that using this not only confuses other players but it's also something that people don't like other players using, as it makes them harder to locate sometimes, especially is the user uses it consecutively throughout their character name. Plus, if they are planning to change the font soon, it will make the the use of this look a bit obvious. Just trying to keep everyone informed and educated on things that may affect them in the near future, whether it be minor or major.
I've recently been having a few chats with some GMs on the support section and this came up in one of the conversations. The use of lowercase L's and uppercase i's have been used extensively in a lot of botter, scammer and hacker abuses. It's used to make them harder to report if you are unable to catch them in time to report. This is particularly an issue if more than one person in the same word have the same character name, as it not only makes it harder to track them, but it makes it harder to distinguish which is the real perpetrator from someone who just happens to own a similar-looking character name.
That's the main reason I don't recommend it, if someone owns a similar-looking character name, they may be tangled up in issues that may not be related to them.

A method I use to get good, one-word IGNs is finding a nice sounding word with an L or even better double L's and replacing them with capital i's in your IGN. If you pick a nice one-word IGN with double L's you can make different combinations using L's and capital i's until you find one that works, for ex.

Good character names aren't hard to create. Yes, most if not all of the great, short character names are either currently being used or banned, both an unavoidable fact. Everyone wants a character name that everyone can recognize as being the cream of the crop, but I think having those kinds of character names proves a person's inability to be creative.
Just looking at my character names, most are medium length, but they are very different in the sense that I had to spend a bit more time trying different names before I deciding on those. Some are in different languages, which shows my dedication to find a word that had meaning. If you have already noticed, most if not all of them are a play on the class, or have some kind of meaning, however broad, with a trait that the class possesses. An great example of this is my character, Solitize. As it is a play on the word solitude and being used on my Paladin, a warrior class that was an outcast because of their limited damage output or party buffs, it's a perfect name in it's own right.
Conclusion? Spend the extra time trying to find something that has meaning, because once you create a character name and start interacting with other players, it's going to be one of the main things they use to remember you by. Hell, there are some people who are still remembered to this day just by there character name, Tiger and Suuushi are great examples of this.
@DawnChu: It's not that I don't like your list, it's that you're probably struggling because you're aiming for something with a very unlikely chance so of course you're going to run into some obstacles
IGNs that use a lot of vowels are usually not taken. Starting with Oe, Ou, Uo, Ue, as well as IGNs starting with Q.
Grabbed Qieb and OEWL (and oewi) earlier this year, for example.
People have also started prefacing their igns with "n" and "v" for some reason, much like what "x" and "i" used to be.
That's because a lot of the good names are taken by d-bags who train to lvl 32 and quit -_-
I think you're trying too hard for a one word IGN. Most have been taken ages ago, you may get lucky but it's extremely hard to go them as they are extremely high on demand. That's a given

After returning to the game I'm still scoring decent names, what names are you trying? ...
100% agree with Traitor if you are having that much of an issue word+thing works also if a name you really really want has a L in it use a capital i instead since in the game a lowercase L looks the same as a capital i so a name like Bubbles looks like it's spelled correctly.
Honestly I've grabbed three 4-letter IGNs that aren't horrible within the past year. You just gotta think outside the box.
Give me it
I tried Japanese Pokemon name Haha. None. And then French phrases. None
I'll give you DeezNuts if ya catch my drift
When all else fails Word+Thing
example: FatElephant
Ooo, thanks. You should use them for your kids
Sassy.
you could...
go with a common theme for all your igns and just do variations on that
add a random letter like "x" "v" or whatever you want in front of a word (please no XxhurrdurrxX though)
Find a short phrase or compound word and swap out one of the words for something that sounds similar but has a different meaning (for example, take the word Sandwich. I could do Sandwitch, Blandwich, Sandwhich, Manwich, etc.)
bash your face on the keyboard and hope for the best
cry

Japanese and French are quite common. Got to use something obscure. Tamil sounds nice.

Try good igns anyways, I randomly typed Huntres (which is pretty good imo) one day and got it.

Since your BM is MorningFall, maybe you can use names like EveningBreeze or something
