Nexon did a Q and A on Tumblr a while back: "We were hoping that we were going to be able to review this again after the server work done in early summer, but there are some additional server structure changes that we're considering for this autumn. Unfortunately, that means there won't be any plans for a world transfer event until those back end changes are finalized, implemented, and confirmed to be working fine, with stability to spare for combining world populations."

Never; knowing Nexon, NEVER. Numerous people have asked and all they said was blah, blah, blah maybe if we feel like it ( same thing for world merge) =____________=

@c0jeffc0: No I understand what you're trying to say. However, the fact remains that the character itself is saved on their systems. Having to code it into another world is simply putting it into the other world then transferring the data that is already saved. I'd explain this but I'm not trying to get my posting taken away again, let alone banned on here. (it involves certain things that Nexon looks down upon)

im no expert but if my knowlege is correct maplestory is coded in C. The interesting thing about C is that it uses pointers. pointers hold a memory value rather than an integer value. they will direct you to another place to find the information required. it is entirely possible that things such as quests equipment and so on are not stored with the character. as a result you would need to follow all of the pointers and remove the entire network of the character. then rewrite that network into the new server. Think of it like a plant with a root system.

If anything, it would cost them about $10 per 1000 people they transfer. It's not hard for them to do a transfer, the data is all saved and backed up, all they do is transfer that data over to a new world, it's very simple. That's why other games allow it, but they charge up the bum for a transfer even though it's really easy.

For all we know we may never get another world transfer again because it costs them a lot of money to manually move each player from one world to another. I remember someone saying something about them having to hire outside services in order to world transfer characters and that they removed them because they were not cost effective to sell.

World transfer not within the forseeable future, Nexon said they had no plans for another transfer event.

Maybe before the year ends? Hopefully the winter events won't be so disappointing... Long stretch since it's Nexon.

Their Christmas gift to us is probably gonna be a heartwarming thanks and 1% sale off everything in CS.
