My dad is dying of liver damage. He is still drinking. Alcohol isn't what kills or does harm. It the person character.

He's busy, I think he mentioned it at some point.

Skimmed through his last few stories; to be frank, I couldn't tell you for sure.

The only real insight I can offer (aside from the common sense alternative: "he was joking" ) is regarding the end of his PhD coming up. Now, this can mean one of two things:
I. He's failed to make enough progress toward his dissertation and is about to run out of funding and thus, will potentially be removed from his program.

II. His dissertation defense is coming up and he's beginning to crack under pressure (or develop a fairly common cynical sense of humor about it), which, as a PhD student myself, I can testify is actually quite common.

Either way, one would hope the case relates to the above; if he 'actually' met his end, then it could be anyone's guess what those posts meant.
