Squish Is there reason to stick with a Corsair?

So der I was, feelin' liek grinding my sair up to 140 so she could use the awesome Empress weapon I happened to have successfully scrolled for once that adds like 5000 to her range.

I went into MPE and...oh my god what HOW DO I STOP ALL MY POTIONS ARE DISAPPEARING AHH AAAAAAHHHH

I actually never tried out my Corsair's skillset change since RED (and the update before that wasn't played for too long either) because of how I both disliked the gameplay change (not too much though, at the time) and because of the greater focus on octopi(seriously even the flash jump has an octopus) which kind of screwed with my opinion of the class.

I made my Corsair aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll the way back when Pirates came out, and for the most part I recall reducing potion needs and survival issues through the use of her freeze skill.

But that's gone, and I'm not going to be getting party grinding support like in LHC, and SH is hard hitting enough for me to potentially die on my Dark Knight with 27k HP due to lag while changing channels.

Other classes I've used that actually got past level 100 are Paladin(now Dark Knight), Bishop, Mercedes, and Kaiser...I had totally forgot about this whole "surviving is hard" business, and for some reason my bishop seems to be hitting decently harder than my corsair without any real significant advantage besides his level (150 >137) when it comes to mobbing. And I'm pretty sure I screwed up her skillset since the guide I found for post RED only told me what to max and what to leave behind, which lead to silly things like 8 Quickdraw and 0 Brain Scrambler and 30 ELE(though that's just a leftover from the update before RED, I think I actually prefer that ship attack since it has less delay, pushing back the monsters consistently enough to save me from all out potion burn.)

I'm pretty much thinking that I'm done with this character, despite all the stuff she's accumulated, the nostalgia factor and investment, and the Empress gun I have which is pretty much the best weapon I'll ever get my hands on(I don't have any real interest in Jett beyond a slight aesthetic preference but even then I can't open job advancement to it, I heard Mechanics are squishy too anyway and the coloring option is gone, and ZEN while awesome isn't in GMS.)

But I figured that before I left her to become yet another overleveled mule I should listen to whatever pros of her class that I may be blinded from after a single bad experience.

EDIT:I forgot Basil titles can't support symbols again...

I'm not really a damage guy either really, although I've always seen corsairs' primary point being their damage over anything else (whereas for my paladin it was defense, and my bishop support.) I guess there's some new way to color Mechanics that I haven't heard about if it's still here.

I think that if I get Zero's link skill and get to 150 I'll be able to keep playing with it. Being 3-4 shot doesn't sound so bad at SH. I've always thought that ranged classes were to be more fragile just because they wouldn't be taking the brunt of it though(being able to keep things at distance) which I wasn't able to pull off very well without serious knockback skill spam.

Try switching to cannoneer or bucc, they can take more hits then a Corsair, Actually have party skills, Wayyy better mobbing moves, and are overall better then Corsairs and pretty much every way possible. Do note that if you do switch to Bucc or Cannoneer they do use Str instead of Dex so your equipment will be practically useless unless you recube all of it.

Yeah, Corsair's durability early on is really terrible. It isn't so bad after level 150. The level 150 Hyper Skill, Whaler's Potion, gives +40% HP and -15% Damage Taken so that helps a lot. Link skills like Kaiser (+15% HP), Cannoneer (+10% HP), and Zero (-15% Damage Taken) also help. Decent Hyper Body stacks with Whaler's Potion, if you can afford a pair of HB pants. Set effects like Empress, CRA, and Gollux also give HP bonuses. With Whaler's Potion and Decent HB, I have over 40k HP and I don't even use Kaiser's link skill.

tbh, there isn't much reason to play a Corsair unless you find the class fun. They aren't a bad class but there isn't much reason to play one over most other classes.

Whalers potion is definitely vital and balances the squish beautifully. Kaiser and cannoneer links are also wonderful. Get all 3 and you'll be one tanky dex user

I play my sair for thematic reasons and not really for their viability. Sairs are honestly not that bad, except for how squishy they are (the level 150 hyper buff helps a lot). They're pretty easy to fund and are fun imo. Their damage isn't bad either, but if damage is your thing then I'd advise to reconsider, because a lot of other classes benefit way more from funds than sairs do. ELE is necessary because Broadside doesn't penetrate mobs, meaning that it's only good for clusters (and 1v1). In a situation where the monsters are spread out you're better off using ELE. Brain Scrambler is good against bosses where you have to keep moving a lot and dodge stuff, so whether you're using Broadside or Brain Scrambler depends entirely on the boss and situation, and I like switching up my skills so I actually consider this a bonus. But yeah, SH is kinda painful as they 3-4 shot you. Maybe you'd be more into aCannoneer? They're a lot tougher and they also use a fire weapon. They have a monkey theme instead of an octopi theme. Coloring option for mechanics is not gone btw.
