I thought this was interesting
A friend and I were heading to my car after our business at a 7-11 store (I bought a couple of monster energy drinks). On our way out, he saw some girl on a cell phone, heading to the store when her heeled shoe snapped on the bottom, causing her to trip. As he and I rushed to her, he was taking off his sweater... I had no idea why. I asked if the girl was okay and extended my hand to help her up, but he swatted my hand away. Before I could ask what the hell, he held his rolled up sweater in front of her and asked her to hold onto it so he could help her up. She looked at him like a weirdo but complied anyway. She gave her thanks, maintaining the "weirdo" look as she walked away. My friend wore his sweater back on and went on his way to my car.
As I drove, I asked him why he didn't just extend his hand, like a normal person, to help her up, instead of using his sweater. He said, and I'm serious about this, "For real? If I touch her, even just a little bit, she can shout rape. Did you see all the other people around us? I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea. I'm not going to prison for something like that."
I was baffled on the way back to work. Is that really a thing, though? Can a woman simply call "rape" and a guy will be thrown in prison without evidence? That can't be right.

Haha, no. I wouldn't even be worried about that.
Girls are retards. I'm ashamed to be one.
I hate third wave feminism.
Wait so if a girl or guy touches me I can yell rape? This weird.
Unfortunately, your friend's fears aren't necessarily groundless.
There are some notable cases where women have falsely accused men of rape and/or other forms of sexual assault and there is a rising popularity of polarized liberals who attempt to redefine the term "rape" to mean anything involving a male with innocent touching (as in your situation) to other wildly inaccurate spin-offs (essentially <x-adjective> rape).
Mind you, this hardly speaks for the majority of the general populous (the same with the almost cliche' conservative nutcases on Fox News), but it's still a very real problem.
Obviously they would need to sleep together, just touching hands isn't sex, can't be called rape
@natalie says: i thought rape constitutes putting omsething into something which didn't even happen
It is definitely possible, but is it likely? I can't answer that either because I don't know the statistics of women who falsify rape claims. But good on your friend for being cautious (?)
You must be pretty ugly for a girl to swat your hand away.
@eggzington: Personally I feel like he was a bit paranoid.
Has someone yelled "rape" to him while he was helping them?
@shamieekill: I'm guessing so, yeah, since he apparently knew what to do and did it without hesitation. He was already taking his sweater off as we made our way to the poor lady.
That or he's much more well informed than I am.
Has something like this happened to your friend before?
It numbs my brain because it happens. It's weird I'm telling you. In all honesty, hooking up with a girl if she has been drinking or just in general, I just don't know about it. The way money and lawyers work it's kind of wild. No BS it's a real thing, and it sounds like your friend had some experience or knows someone who dealt with this issue.
That's insane. It's not that I don't believe you, but it just numbs my brain that things like that actually happen. I thought it was just in the movies.
Sounds a little paranoid. But that screaming rape stuff happens more than you know. Even if nothing comes of it, and even if nothing happened. People still have to deal with the police, booking and court.
