Collecting A Guide to Rare Equips

Welcome to the collector database--the comprehensive compilation of all you need to know about rare equipment. I'm Drake. I've been collecting old, rare, and event items on my character FleshEating in Khaini since April 2012, and I began this project to organize a complete list of collectibles and to aid aspiring collectors in their search for them. [header]Getting Started[/header]
[b]What is collecting?[/b]
"Collecting" is a term that encompasses a variety of activities on MapleStory. Many people choose to gather medals, chairs, or other items as a hobby or goal alongside training their character. However, this guide will focus specifically on collecting rare equipment. Although I know a fair amount about chairs as well, chair rarity and price fluctuates far too greatly and too frequently for me to be able to keep an accurate guide. From this point onward, "collecting" will refer to gathering rare equipment.

[b]How can I start collecting?[/b]
The best way to begin collecting is to choose a specific type of equipment that you want to collect. Your first goal may be to collect all of the colors of bandanas, work gloves, or surfboards, to name a few. Alternatively, you can choose to specialize in a particular kind of equipment, such as hats.

[b]What do I need to start collecting?[/b]
Like with anything else in this game, collecting requires time and mesos. Although there are rare items that can sell for billions alone, there are also a lot of items that cost only a few million, meaning that anyone can collect, regardless of funding. Patience is extremely important to creating a great collection, because after all, you are looking for "rare" items.

[b]Where do I look?[/b]
If you've been playing this game for several years, chances are that you may have items that you're looking for already sitting on mules. Check your characters' inventories before you start buying, and ask your friends if they can check theirs as well. As when looking for training equipment, scanning the Free Market at least once a day is a great way to find items that you're seeking. Spamming "B>(specific items here)" or even just "B>rare items" in the Free Market entrance can also be a quick way of finding some of the less rare items. Finally, most worlds have at least a small community of collectors that can be found around a general area. In Khaini, the Henesys potion shop is a place where many collectors can be found hanging out.

I've done my best to put together a list of rare items in MapleStory. It can be found below. Make sure to read the disclaimer first!

I have attempted to make prices broad enough to include all GMS worlds, but they are based primarily on my knowledge as a collector in Khaini. The items listed within the database are in no particular order (unless specified). This database is based on GMS items; rare items in other versions of MapleStory are not included. If an item is completely untradeable (meaning Scissors of Karma cannot be used), it is not listed.

[b]Note:[/b] I have intentionally left out the following sets of items:
- Unwelcome Guest (alien) equips: There are a ton of UWG items, and most of them fall into the price range of 20-50m (exceptions being the VIP weapons), so I didn't see the need to list them all.
- "fake" NX weapons: A lot of them are dropped by monsters, and the ones that aren't are released really frequently during events and whatnot, meaning their prices fluctuate a lot.
- Raven Wing weapons: The Raven Wing weapons are in a similar boat as the UWG ones, they all fall into a similar price range of 10-30m.
- Upgraded Taru weapons (-suma, -magna suffixes): These aren't particularly common, but they also don't have a particularly high demand because they look almost identical to the unupgraded versions of the weapons. I personally don't have any interest in these. Prices can vary.
- Tradeable versions of Maple Hats and Maple Umbrella: Could be wrong, but I believe these have also been released a few different occasions (nor do they have a high demand because their untradeable counterparts are so easily attainable during Maple Anniversary events).

[b]A:[/b] Collecting isn't for everyone. For me, it's a great way to play the game in a different way than the traditional grind to level up your character.
