Basil rules arent strict enough.

For example I see off topic posts in every thread and report them and nothing ever happens. It should be one week ban per off topic post.
I see people flaming each other with a week ban or less. Flaming should be 3 week suspension or more.
Religion threads that flame any religion should be closed and the TS given a 3 week suspension, this includes flaming atheism. If the TS doesn't flame religion, but someone in the thread does, 3 week suspension per flaming post.
Any thread that states one console is better than the other should be closed and the TS suspended for 2 weeks. If the TS doesn't flame a console but someone in the thread does, 2 week suspension per flaming post.
People that have misleading titles should be given a minimum of 2 week suspension.
No warnings.
Comment more things that should be more strict or added to rules.

Just realized this should be in site section, mod please move it.

@Zora: You don't know that. I think the forum would become a lot better and more people would join.

@xJunKun: If they don't know where a thread goes its their fault for not reading the rules and should be suspended. I do not think I'm above the law and believe I should be suspended also.

@uiluj:
But like Drhye pointed out people are on purposely not following the rules and stricter suspensions would teach them not to do that or make them do it less. If its someones mistake, then its only a suspension, it won't kill them.

@askmiller:
Your over-exaggerating my point, 3 week suspension =/= 1 year suspension.
And people who create threads in the wrong section should be IP banned, right thread starter?

There will be even more complaints if we made the rules stricter, it just won't happen. What we're trying to do right now is hand out less, but harsher suspensions to those who actually deserve it, while being more lenient to trivial things like off-topic posts.
No, IP ban would useless because they are too easy to dodge. How about 2 week suspension instead? Anyway, who cares if they complain, the people who complain are whiny brats who think they should get whatever they want and mods shouldn't let themselves be controlled by the basilers.

@persephone99:
Yes I do want to be suspended for it actually.
@Keey haha I didn't think of it that way... -moves back to chat-... kidding :I

But anywho, the suspensions were actually lightened up a few weeks ago because too many people felt they were previously too severe. We're trying to meet people halfway, you could say. There are cases where I think people know exactly what they're doing wrong and do it anyway, and should just lose their accounts, but that's not my decision.

But I don't see why you'd be suspended for this thread.
Thanks for the warning, even though I think I should have been suspended. Anyway I don't think you should give into the demands of the whiny basilers that think they shouldn't get suspended. If you keep meeting them "half way there" eventually there will be no suspensions...

EDIT: As far as reports go, we're all trying to balance college/jobs/real life with the "job" we have on basil. Most of us do more "catching in the act" than we do working on the report box, but it's not like a report is ever fully neglected. We actually have to read some in order to get to others anyway, so yeah...

I have to admit I for one would like to have more help here, but that won't be happening for a while.
I'm not saying they work inefficiently, I just think they should be more strict in there suspensions. I think they work perfectly efficiently right now.

@Uiluj:
I called you the t-word. That doesn't mean I was calling you a troll.
Thing is, they DON'T suspend.

I see a lot of people around here posting things that should call for a suspension, but they keep on posting days and days after the suspendable comment they made.
This thread and you are hypocritical. This thread belongs in the "Site Talk" section. Off topic. 3days or 3 week ban.
Exactly, I really do deserve it. 2 week suspension. would be sufficient I believe. But I bet I'll get off with a warning or nothing at all. I'm not hypocritical, I believe I should be suspended

Rules are guidelines on Basil.
Moderators exist to define that "gray area" many people like to cross. There are threads that violate two or more Basil rules, but remain up with 200+ posts. Yet moderators find that these threads are morally acceptable, regardless of what rule it breaks.

Don't bother. Maybe it's better this way. Or maybe not. Who knows...
