Not much time in life

I recently decided to download Maplestory again for some reason, mostly because I was bored and I missed playing Mechanics and tried out the revamp. The thing is, I was never ever funded in this game, don't even have many Link Skills (many in 90s-100s) and highest character is 140 and is a Pre-BB NL that is all messed up stat wise.

Pretty much what I'm trying to ask is: How much time will it take me to get somewhere in this game with limited time (1-2 hours a day) and College coming up in September ? Is it worth playing a game that takes so much dedication? I am just indecisive for some odd reason.

As everyone else has pointed out, there are two ways to play MS, unfunded and funded.

1-2 hours a day playing unfunded will get you about 70-80% of the experience/fun of playing. This is what I would recommend for you.

If you want to be funded, soloing high end bosses, doing cap damage, etc, you'll either need either 5000 hours of gameplay or $5000 to spend on NX.

You can get decently far with Gollux/Commerci after 140 so long as you're dedicated. Getting far is always a perception thing, of course he won't get to the end-game(CRA, Hard Mag, etc) that way, but he shouldn't have a problem slowly progressing and surmounting challenges(Note that I mean things his character cannot do) that way.

One to two hours a day is easily enough for both those tasks, and with the anniversary coming up he can put the additional time to farm and enhance gear he may use. It's not going to be the best, but it's not as if you need a large range to accomplish something, so long as your goal is entertainment and that it doesn't directly co-relate to end-game bossing for you.

Like you, I also play pretty casually. There are training guides that take the guesswork out of finding the best places to train so getting somewhere with respect to levels will be easy.

If you wanna continue on your NL and fix its stats a bit, you should register for the 10th anniversary package here.
Last day says "before May 5th". Not sure if that means before today/tomorrow midnight pst (3am est).

I also thought you were dying
you can get to at least level 50-60 in 2 hours or even less if you're really fast through quests, etc.
by september which is 5 months since may just started, you can indefinitely get level 160+ if assuming you'll play 8-10 hours in a week maybe even more in weekends.

i made my account in late january and im level 185-ish, no botting used, all i did was boss every day which is like 1-2 hours and afk mainly at sdh for a couple of mins (i get bored very easily)
maple isnt a game to dedicate to anymore, you can get levels so easily now
but you are a bishop, with holy symbol, 1.5x exp. then it becomes 1.8x (self) once you unlock the hyper point. only classes that have exp boost is bishop, phantom, beast tamer.

That's not a reason why its not worth dedicating to. Sure its "easy" to level, but you have to level a lot more characters now to get what you need. I have 17 lvl2 link skills and I still need one more cygnus knight and then I need to get 210 links. People always say that lvling easily makes the game "bad" compared to preBB but it honestly is more fun to play higher leveled content. The difficulty is still there. Its just hidden in the number of characters you need to make, not the individual characters.

The title of the thread made me think you were dying, OP.

You don't need to dedicate much time if you want to play casually, just don't expect an instant end-game hitting caps. 1-2 hours a day will get you some casual game play. If you want to level up fast but not necessarily do the most damage, you can get up to 150+ in a week. You won't just hit that much, but you'll be fairly higher level than you were before. The game doesn't really start to get hard until 200, which is where most things start now.

Here's some help if you need it: link
