THE CONJURING 2 IN THEATERS JUNE 10

The Conjuring was heavily praised by both critics and fans. James Wan, a well known director in the horror film genre, has directed and produced a sequel. It has good ratings from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes from people who got to see it earlier than everyone else. I'm planning to see it on June 9th! Is anyone else excited?

Hopefully they won't use many cheap scare tactics. I'm really looking forward to this. I was going to watch this with a couple of my friends, but they aren't really horror fans, so I'm alone on Thursday night. I don't know if I should be excited or scared.

@upcomingnerd: I dislike sequels of horror movies but you never know. Maybe it will actually be good.
Do horror movies still exist?

The trailer for it seemed pretty lame, but I loved the first one and it's getting great reviews. I might wait until tuesday to watch it, when tickets are cheaper.

I really liked the first one. Having competent and knowledgeable protagonists in horror films is pretty interesting.

@fradddd: Honestly I've seen a ton of exorcism movies and they just seem a bit played out and weird. The director of the conjuring did a great job appealing to more modern tastes. Especially when it comes to building tension. I think the music was a large part of that.

Usually sequels to horror films are terrible (The Ring 2, Blair Witch 2), although there are exceptions like Saw 2 and maybe even Insidious 2, both of which also involved James Wan in some capacity.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Never was sure why people liked The Conjuring over any other possession/demon/ghost movies...I mean, yeah, it was good, but so were a buttload of other ones I've seen that only have a 5 or 6 star rating on IMDb. I just don't get why it's BETTER. It had jump scares and tension just like most other movies of that type...

Yes, I'm so excited! I honestly can't wait until I go watch it, and I do hope they don't use many of the cheap scare tactics... it does somewhat throw me off a bit. Though, since it does have good ratings from Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, I'll just have to wait and see for myself.
