Gamer Grrrls Hot or Not

So, NixiePixel, a 'famous' youtube 'celeb' that is all about open source and video games, recently posted a video about her personal concerns with the gaming and tech industry and how she's been judged on her looks constantly. http://www.youtube.com/user/NixiePixel/featured

The video is mostly about her saying that it should be more about your 'geekyness' instead of your 'looks' that determines your level of 'acceptance' in the tech community. She goes on to say that she's 'ignorant' about 'dressing properly' and that she hasn't been taken seriously as a 'geek' just because of the way she dresses/looks.

I agree that it's bad to judge someone just on their appearance and how they're dressed, but unfortunately, not a lot of other people out there agree. While I'm all for showing off your individuality, I think we have to 'compromise' just a bit and dress appropriately based on the environment we're in. It has nothing do with gender. Even Mark Zuckerberg got a lot of hate for always wearing a hoodie to meetings. Also, I found it weird that she went out of her way to say she's 'not a feminist, yall'.

What are your thoughts on this video? Does it matter how you look or should it be more about your 'knowledge' and 'love' for video games? Should gamers dress a certain way? Does it matter if you're a gamer grrrl?

Classy

My first impression was that she was, in fact, just another girl exploiting the low standards of females among the gaming community.
Could you blame me, though? After seeing the provocative nature of her videos including cleavage, and a good many sexual references in her video titles, not to mention the sense her fanbase is only there to gawk at her melons, it's reasonable to think she's not the real stuff.

That's all I heard from her. She annoyed me. And look, I really don't give a crap about what you have underneath your panties in a knot or how bad your feelings hurt if I don't respect you. I just want to be entertained.
I didn't read the OP at all but i just came here to say that "grl gamerzzzzzz/gamer grlzzzz" are the most idiotic pieces of crap ever.

Exploiting yourself because you're a girl and a gamer just to feel unique/get attention is absolutely pathetic. I'm not only referring to youtube/streaming, anywhere on the internet it. Don't care if you're a guy or a girl, if you're not enjoyable to watch, I'm not watching you.
Neither. "fun" is a key word" fuunnnnn."

Gamer grrrrl is just stupid, it's just the same if a guy is like "i'm a gamer guy!"--so you're a guy? it should apply to females as well; the gender barrier for activities are fading and becoming increasingly acceptable to game, wear anything, have jobs, etc. it's an issue that can stop by just not talking about it, of course you're going to have gamers prodding girls while gaming because..well the amount of interacting with a female is equivalent to the amount of sunlight they have been exposed too. So you have to understand that guys will try everything they can (just like outside of a game) to initiate romance in some form of manner (Whether cheesy pickup lines, befriending them, or ridiculing them like they're 8)because--oh look they have things in common; like playing the same game.
Oh, & yes all gamers should dress in Tron: Legacy uniforms in order to proceed to game.
First impressions is how a person will judge you, no matter what anyone says its true. So if you're wearing a skimpy outfit and want to be all about "tech and hardware" people will look at you funny, because of your first impression you have to prove you really know your stuff or you will forever be known as the chick who thinks this is baywatch. But even then, its harder to convince others that you're the real deal once you do such a thing.

You don't go to a job interview in casual wear thinking you nailed the interview.
I feel like it's such a cop out when she says 'she's ignorant how to dress herself'.

Wait... so they don't want her in the community because she looks good?

6.5/10 btw

It doesn't even matter... People, pretty or ugly, can be found in any community. Especially in gaming since it's a hobby. Example
