President of Nintendo takes 50% pay cut

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will take a 50% pay cut after recent losses. Miyamoto and other Nintendo executives will also be taking a 20-30% pay cut.

It's nice to see the leaders of a company actually take responsibility for once instead of making excuses and blaming others for problems. Perhaps others can follow their example.
*cough* Microsoft *cough* EA

If Iwata is likeable for one thing, it's this. Staying when times are bad is commendable. I remember him doing a similar thing when the 3DS launch was mishandled and initial sales fell way below expectations. Hope they can learn from this and get Wii U to have the same success that the 3DS is having now.
That's because Microsoft is a selfish company and doesn't give a rat's ass about their players, same with Sony now. They charge monthly to use their services after paying hundreds of dollars for the system, Nintendo doesn't. Don't get me wrong, I have PS4 and Xbox 360 but the company are dbags
That's because Microsoft and Sony's products don't have 10 year old children as a target audience but instead focus on games played by people that generally have more expendable money and aren't desperately trying to hold onto their childhood.

From a business/gaming perspective, Nintendo is trash tier compared to the competitors which explains why their gross income is significantly lower than any other big thing.

@Zoneflare4: It isn't drastic. It's just a way for the leaders of Nintendo to show that they're taking responsibility for their actions, a strong public apology basically. Mr. Iwata also took a pay cut back in 2011 when they were forced to lower the price of the 3DS after a few months in market.

Nintendo has 8 or so billion in cash, so they'll be fine.

You're implying gaming is the only thing Microsoft does, and you're completely off-topic from xtripled's first post. Why do you need to take a pay cut if you're making billions is the question. You haven't provided a single piece of factual evidence other than shouting that MS is a greedy and selfish corporation either; having a 360 and PS3 doesn't make you a credible source in the same way eating food doesn't make you an Iron Chef-level critic.

Please don't post if you're going to speak out of your ass.

well this isnt good for Nintendo. If they are having to resort to such drastic measures then they must be getting close to going out of business

last time I checked, japan's all about making leadership take responsibility........
hence resignations and the occasional suicide
Soooo, why do I have the feeling most people believe their paycut is supposed to even the deficit out instead of being more of a "we failed the company, so we don't deserve as much pay for a while" thing?
because thats what paycuts are for, nobody gets a promotion for being a "nice man"
If i skip a day of job, I get a paycut to make up for the lack of productivity, wether I "deserve" it or not

Well, at least they're still dominating the handheld market.

@1kevqn: doesn't answer my question
they're making a ton of money, why would a pay cut be necessary
you would only cut costs if you're losing money or attempting to save
which neither microsoft needs to do at the moment
it's funny because so many pokelosers are happy he's getting such a huge cut just because they delayed pokebank
I don't think any of us have the right to judge people who enjoy Pokemon, as we're all on this craphole dedicated to Maplestory. Which is billions of times worse.
