As a player of both series of games. BUY battlefield 3. The combat is 100x betters, along with the improved graphics. We also know that BO2 will not be revolutionary.
Also, get dark souls for ps3. It's around 18~20$ [depends on if you have gamestop PRO]. It is an amazing game, i spent over 100 hrs in it and have only owned for 2 weeks.

Okami HD just came out for PS3 for $20, so I would very much suggest that if you've never played Okami.
With $40 of your parent's money, you can't really do anything meaningful...
So buy some Steam games.
