What's the most common misconception on basil?
As, the title say... what do you think it is?
Example:
Users that (e.g. spell this word wrong or got this term mixed up)
I'll start:
Users that assume that mods == admins
Users assume that their suspensions are completely invalid because it's not stated directly in the rules.
Most don't even get that far. xD
That Mr. Basil is nice. He isn't (not sure he even exists). Ban me.
Making overly complicated threads on something extremely simple will make you popular
People who post memes are instantly trolls
Hating on things that are popular makes you "cool"
Going with the flow makes you a loser (Oddly enough, since pretty much everybody's going "against the flow," they've reversed the direction of the river"
And SO MANY MORE
Mods = Legion of Doom
That you have to play maplestory to go on here.
+1, for some reason I like to stick with Basil
Users that assume that suspended = banned.
Users that assume freedom of speech exists on a privately owned website.
Users that assume Nexon is doing absolutely nothing to combat hackers.
Users that assume Basilers will be nice to them.
Users that assume moderaters are evil and nothing but evil and must automatically be hated because they are authority.
Users that assume they are right and everyone else is wrong.
Users that assume their religion/faith is absolutely the only possible right one.
I could go on.
I actually kinda disagree with this point. Of course mrbasil can delete every single account and then shut the site down, but his main revenue is from advertisements, so he depends on all of the users here to keep this site up and running. Without them, he wouldn't be making money, so the least he could do is have some respect and make sure the majority is satisfied. Every person has the right to say and do whatever they wish until they interfere with other people's rights to say and do whatever they wish. If they do, we suspend.
Not exactly, nuking one person doesn't really affect the revenue of the site and he does try "uptmost effort to be fair", but he doesn't have to be.
@CrayonScribble: ok?.......
that isnt a common misconception, its the truth....f3
It's only the truth for my opinion. My opinion was created superior to yours.
"My suspension is unfair"
that, and "My opinion is more important than everyone else's."
that isnt a common misconception, its the truth....f3
I think one of the misconceptions I hear a lot is that people think the mods have much more power than they think we do, like, site-altering/fixing powers. We really don't though. If MrBasil's not around, we can't do much.
Another is that people tend to be very defensive over threads they make, and while they might be important to them, not everyone would agree. If you move their thread, rename it, or it dies, they think it's an attack against them and that they must do everything they can to keep it alive.
Omg. Your the first mod I seen with an online status. +1 for disabling invisible.

My suspension was unfair because another did not recieve one.
[*]Moderators try to make the site as pleasant as generally possible, not to suspend every single rule breaker for the sake of doing so.
There is freedom of speech on Basil, let's complain everytime we are silenced!
[*]We are all GUESTS of BasilMarket, which is not funded by any higher body which means MrB can run his PRIVATE site anyway he sees fit. He is not legally obligated in anyway to serve your preconcieved notions of free speech. You must realise that not all opinions were created equal. This is MrBasil's site, in which his moderators act as his backhand, they don't have to be fair - MrB can delete every single one of your accounts and IP ban you just because he doesn't like your race/age/creed/religion as we are all GUESTS of his house. Of course he tries his uptmost effort to be fair, but he doesn't have to be.
Evolution is a theory, theories aren't proved
[*]Scentific definition of a theory is a hypothesis with a large amount of evidence and support, which can be used to make dedications and predicitions with some exceptions which have not yet been explained which are currently under investigation. So the theory of evolution is pretty much fact which needs some small tweeks before it can be confirmed to be.
All Athiests are trying to be hip etc
[*] Countries such as Australia and New Zealand have large Atheist populations >50% by pure virtue that the population generally started out largely Atheist, they aren't trying to be 'hip'. It was just the religion or lack of thereof that they were bought up in. Just like most Christians were bought up in Christian familes. It's quite rude to assume Atheists are just trying to be hip.
Athiests/Christains/any other religion don't think about theology as much as my religion.
[*]Atheists must have thought more about religion to realize how it wasn't true.
[*]Atheists must not have thought about religion to be atheist.
[*]Neither of the statements above are true, most people assume the religion of the people closest to them - so we all put in equally less thought. Of those who converted from null religion to one, or from one religion to null or to another - those people cannot be definitively assumed have thought no more about religion than any person.
Maths questions (BEDMAS)
[*]Common examples, is the 6 divided by 3 times (2+1). BEDMAS works as following, the brackets then expodentials are done first. So therefore you just do the brackets.
Addition and subtraction are on the same priority level, so is multiplication and division. Once the equation only has operations of one priority - do the equation from left to right. So the answer is 9. NINE. That's right. Do the equation left to right.
You listen to mainstream music/you listen to x type of music, your taste is crap
[*]I'm not even going to explain why this peeves me off to no end.
Help me I'm out of time to do x assignment/study etc. Making a thread on Basil Chat will help me complete it
[*] Get off Basil and do your freakin' assignment then? Why are you wasting more time procrastinating? Most of Basil probably won't have read the text you have in hand, and very very very few would be willing to write you a complete essay. You're wasting your time. Go do your freakin' work.
I need urgent medical help, Basil can help
[*] No it can't, go call 911 or your country's equivalent.
This girl/boy doesn't know I exist, how can I ask them out? Basil can give me super special swagger.
[*] Try using your mouth to talk to them, that's how it usually works unless they're deaf.
"I'm entitled to my opinion"
If we're talking about something that is opinion-based, then sure. (Like the best flavor of ice cream).
But people resort to this on issues of FACT, like the idiots that claim Obama's Certification of Live Birth is somehow not official.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts darnit!
Many basilers think they're the smartest of smart and almost all use over used memes, and the especially over used "changing pants" references on screenies of well scrolled items.
Everyone on Basil just immediately calls everything a "troll" if it's a joke.
Also that unless you go to med school or because a lawyer after graduating from some 100k a semester school, you are doomed to be a miserable failure who lives in a cardboard box. I think this one pisses me off the most
If someone's actually taking it that far, then yeah, they would be quite naive. Anyone thinking that only getting into Yale can possibly make them happy or successful needs to seriously relax.
However, there is a strong correlation between getting a good education and being able to provide better opportunities for your family in the future. No rule of thumb is 100% accurate, there's always the college drop-outs that become billionaires starting some unbelievably profitable company. But that's not the norm.
The fact is that good educations tend to lead to more financial security and more opportunities for yourself and your offspring. Without getting the best education realistically possible, you are handicapping your own chances at greater security and opportunity.
Finding flaws in Christianity disproves the chance of an omnipotent westernized being.
That girls don't like them because they're too nice, when it's really they just don't have the confidence to talk to the girl.
And usually have some weird feeling of entitlement simply because they are nice to women.
etc etc etc Also pretty much what @EeveePony said.
That atheists are somehow smarter or more logical than religious people.
religion b >religion a
That I am male. (but I like that)
That grey blobs are per definition suckers. People took me a lot less seriously when I went on a grey blob tour.
It ALSO annoys me when people are convinced that unless you look like some body builder, girls will never like you and you will die a lonely decrepit virgin. We girls go for anything between the really skinny guys, to the muscle, to the chubby. Give us more credit than that!
That mods are soul less drones who survive on the psychic hurt of suspended basilers and that we bathe in their tears or something
Open a thread asking what subjects people do and their marks. You'll be surprised how many intelligent people there are. Then wonder how many are lying.
That only assumes that intelligence can be measured by academic ability.
._. I definitely have never, EVER thought that about a majority of Basilers.
Mods gets pay but they don't get paid
Everybody's a nerd.

Without saying otherwise, everyone is going to think you're an ugly asian with no social life.
