Torture of In-Town Lag

Salutations fellow maplers, I've come back from a long break and I wanted to get back into the game immediately. I logged on recently today and experienced horrible lag within every town I've been ported too. Mainly Ludibrium, Leafre, and El Nath. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone have a solution to fixing the lag?

It takes me at least 20 minutes struggling to get from one side of the map to the other and it takes a good 5 minutes struggling to get my character to stand directly in the portal. I do fine when I'm in a monster infested map, but the Horror mainly happens within Town(s). It's like one frame every 5 minutes. Majority of the time it freezes completely and I have to wait a really long time to open up Windows Task Manager and close Maplestory.

What is the specs on your computer? Go google search on how to check your specs and copy/pasta it here.

Do you have sufficient amount of ram? My maplestory use to lag (2gb of ram), but since I increased it to 8gb of ram, it runs really smoothly. Also the processor of your computer matters as well. Are you running on a 1st gen i3? pentium? celeron? some type of AMD chip?

I believe graphics card shouldn't matter too much because my pentium 4 desktop only has an integraded graphics card and it still runs smoothly.

It's Cassandra and gaga and the maple admin (or only one of them). You can prove this because if you go to the aquarium you wont lag, but when you go in the map that has all 3 of them the familiar town lag starts. Another thing I noticed with the town lag is when you get away from those three sometimes the lag stops completely. My guess is that it's the maple admin who's causing all of this.
It might be that your computer is weak, or it might be that one of them is malfunctioning where weak computers cant handle it.

I'm the opposite. 100% FINE in towns, but any map with a monster, huge, terrible lag. My computer is pretty good, I've got 8Gigs of RAM and a nice NVIDA graphics card on an i7 processor... any ideas?
For the record, a toaster that can toast bread while acting like a computer is still awesome.
For example, getting hungry while going on Basil. Pop in some bread, and once it's done, there's magnificent toast that you can make sure that doesn't burn, that toast smell, and all in an arms reach.
Wow, I want a toaster pc now lolololol.

Just Alt+Enter like how you do to glitch yourself during seduce. It'll cut out some of the lag for a very brief period of time, but it'll make things 10000x easier I promise. That's what I've been doing for the past 5 months.
So it will only prevent lag for like a few seconds? Do you happen to know how to fix lag when monster spawn or die? The monster lag is really annoying
@kidxhealer the lag issue started at the tempest patch...
And nexon even made a thread about it however they didn't fix it and from what ive heard the lag is just getting worst and worst...., </3

I believe its because there are like 50 bajillion NPCs in every town there is >.< >.< >.<
So in order for me to get around this, I just use Sleepwood as my main town I go to for Gaga, Dimension Door, Ardentmill>>FM.

@Kazzooey: Ahh okay, thanks for your help, I stopped doing that but I learned to deal with the town lag.

@PurplePickles: While playing Maplestory yes, Assuming that the story behind switching resolutions rapidly like that with Alt+Enter hurting yoru computer is true

@Kazzooey: Oh.. the resolution for my desktop is 1600x900 I believe, do you think I should switch mine to 1074x(insert the other number here)?

@PurplePickles: I've been doing it for ages and it hasn't hurt a single thing for my computer. Might be the case if your desktop and Maplestory are in two different resolutions, though I use the same exact resolution as my desktop at the 1074x or whatever it is.

@Kazzooey I used to do the Alt+Enter thing where when I start Maple Story, I get lag, but once I go to full screen then back to window mode there's no more lag, everything runs smoothly, but I heard it messes it with your graphics or is bad for your computer.

My younger siblings practically don't play for this very reason. It used to be fine, and then several patches ago, this lag made it horrific to enter any town, whatsoever. It's ridiculous.
i upgraded the graphics card and it still lags in towns. its fustrating, i did everything. nothing works!
It's not the graphics card that has a problem, it's probably either the CPU or RAM.

The game constantly checks Cassandra, Maple Admin, Gaga every few moments so that Nexon can activate a different "image" when a time comes.
Example: Nexon wants the Cassandra NPC to turn into a festive Cassandra wearing clothes that matches the update (like the anniversary one) starting at 12AM 4/19/13, the game will constantly check the time and will replace the image with a festive Cassandra at 12AM. Even after that, the game will always check for the time and check for any updates. (This is all client sided btw)

Most likely its the motherboard, your current motherboard doesn't have the capacity to fully enable your new VD. Don't forget to check the power supply.

Never tried that before. Yeah I just try to avoid towns altogether. I don't know I survive.
I actually did for the longest time.. Then i switched my computers power option to "high performance" (Using a laptop). Since i'm always plugged in i don't see why i need to run my computer on "Power saver"
This. Lagged for ages on my laptop at SH. Realized it was because i was on power saver.

I have the same problem in Ludi. Leafre and El nath are alright for me, you just have to stay on the right side of town for el nath and left or right sides for Leafre.
