Grammar Policing. Do you hate it

Most of you refer it to "Grammar Nazis" and most of you hate those who've become part of it.
It wasn't until now that I understand the motives behind grammar policing, well in my point of view anyways.
Thanks to my instructor for medical specialties, I've learned to accept my mistakes and set my ego aside.
I don't believe it's, and in most cases it is, to prove who's smarter but rather to help you improve on your linguistic abilities.
I know I wouldn't be caught dead misplacing two homophones on a resume or APA paper.
Instead of taking it in offence, look at it as a way to improve your grammar.
I mean that's what the foundation of "Grammar Nazi" was made to be right?
I do realize some who follow the act usually leave rude comments or state themselves negatively or rudely, but all we can do is simply say "Thanks for correcting me."
After all, that's the main reason why they say it rudely is to put yourself down and make you miserable.
The old saying is true, "Misery loves company".

In my opinion, grammar policing shouldn't be an offence with suspension unless it was stated rudely or negatively.
Reasons why?
Some of us just like to point out others' mistakes and help them learn to correct themselves because linguistics is a huge factor in life, and life is never off topic.

Edit: Idea came from one of the posters.
Editing others' grammar helps us improve our own sentence structure and fluency and prevents us from creating overlooked grammatical errors.

@lilaznmage15: -hocus pocus-....Doesn't appear so

You can lock this one and remake it if you want, that'd be fine. Make sure you can make a thread with a poll first though
This woulda been more effective with a poll, but it appears the replies are already reinforcing the rule here... I'm only guessing that you saw the other thread before making this
Would it be possible to turn this thread into a poll with your powers?
If possible, a simple yes or no option will suffice.

generally, yes. in rare cases somebody may be posting so terribly you can't help but point it out in hopes to get some clarification. it just seems like most people snipe at a spelling error or something just to mess with peple/"discredit" them, which is horribly stupid.

People with bad grammar used to bother me but it really doesn't anymore.
Oh, how convenient. I made a thread like this not to long ago.
It was your thread that I felt the need to create this thread. xD
I just don't feel the justice coming from suspending someone who's helping you correct your errors.

Actually, I kind of like it when people point out my grammatical errors (privately), but not like yelling across the hall because that would be embarrassing. I think of it as a way to improve, since English isn't my first language

"Y DUD CHU DU DAAAAAAAAAAATZ?ROFLMAOFAFAOFA."
@Pavchka: So correcting grammar on a thread like this is legit? (Like I just did)

I never knew f6
The Thread Starter confirmed he appreciates it when his grammar or spelling or whatever is corrected, so in this thread it's fine.

I rarely police grammar even though my grammar is a lot better than most Basilers. Instead, I only point out the grammatical errors in the posts of those who use intellect to put others down or are deliberately trying to sound smarter than everyone else. I just feel it helps to knock them back down to reality.

If people reacted with less anger and violence towards Grammar Nazis/Police/Correcters we wouldn't have felt the need to implement a policy against Grammar Nazism. Just consider it an "on demand" service. If the user doesn't demand, please don't do it.
A comment which points out a typo and does nothing than that is legitimately off topic unless the thread is about grammar, so the worst one could get for Grammar Nazism in an otherwise on topic comment is a Warning.
Honestly, as stupid as grammar nazis are, it's even dumber if you pay them any attention. That's just saying you respond to stupidity. GG
It wasn't even a or a group of "Grammar Nazis" that have influenced me to write this thread but rather a Moderator stating that correcting someone can lead you to suspension.
others' mistakes*
Thanks, I really need to work on that...

yea grammar nazis are annoying

as long as someone gets their point across clearly and it's not misleading, grammar is pretty irrelevant for unimportant things like a BM post for instance
