Where are you in life atm?
I've made a thread like this in the past and I just wanted to check up on y'all. What's new? What do you like/dislike about how things are going in your life right now? What are your plans for the future?
Bombard me with your stories.
My situation: It is currently fall break - so we have a week-long vacay before final assignments are due, and before final exams finally creep in. I have a year left to finish my undergraduate degree, so I'm both anxious and excited to move on to the professional world (unless I decide to do a masters). It's starting to snow in my part of Canada, but it's a rather warm start to winter. Classes are a little tough this sem, but thinking about the next/final two semesters stresses me out (too many labs) - otherwise, life is good, I'm surviving.

Just finished year 12 and hopefully i go to uni next year doing i.t. Just got a job as well (part time) so I can save up for a car or for my future while also buying things that I want to between now and university.
@fradddd: Then it is
@lukiie well I only started keeping track when my bank automatically warned me that my checking account went below $50.
I think I'll just buy whatever I want and suffer the consequences, because it's not like I'm making enough at my work study to make a difference in the future.
@fradddd: it's great that you're trying to manage your money it's really easy to lose track of what we're spending nowadays... I feel you~ I am also slowly getting broke haha. I'm just going with the flow at this point
It's great that you're finding college to be working out! Best of luck to you
Well I'm in college, and that's all going quite well.
But today I realized that for the first time in 2 years, I'm going broke. I worked at King Soopers (grocery store) September 2013 to May 2015, so I usually had enough money to buy whatever I wanted, within reason. Then I made about ~$1800 in the summer at a temp job in July.
But, now I have <$50 in my checking account. I guess I've bought lots of $20-30 things, because then you say to yourself "it's only 20 bucks plus shipping" or whatever. I also go to the grocery store about twice a week and buy foods. So yeah, not fun. Also, conflicted about this girl of course, and still about my crush.
EDIT: So I added together all the debit from my checking account, and it really only accounts for ~$3500 out of the $4500 I've deposited into the account, so there's that...I guess I must've withdrawn $1000 in cash total? Idk.
9% of my money to groceries
23% to car and gas
20% to school stuff
6% to dentist/haircuts
12% to entertainment/clothes/gadgets
I don't know what the rest is. I think maybe I paid for more school stuff, like with registration and such...
@ilikeanime: coolio~ thanks!
@lukiie Business Administrations, best luck to you ass well!
@arcinex It's better to explore your options now rather than regret later! There's always something to live for - although I think we all have these "mann it feels so much easier not to wake up one morning" feelings haha... Anywho, you're not alone in that sentiment!
@tyrantblade nice nice - you're trying to get ahead and you'll surely get there soon I'm sure! Grats on the braces!! Floss up! Unless you're struggling on using the weird braces floss - I just used those floss picks... they're a lot easier for me.
@voidwreck Uni is there to teach you about time management - so you're def on the right track. Tbh, as years go by, I've learned moreso how to cram and whatnot (which is totes terrible - I'm still working on minimizing the procrastination). You'll get through it though!! You've identified the problem this early on in your undergraduate career, you should be able to crack down on your time management by 2nd year or something lul (or so we hope!).
@ninjaduy20 Good! Please do stress out about college and your applications - you only get to do this once. Similar to others, I feel as if I wasn't pressured enough in high school to really explore my choices. I don't know what tips to give you, as I don't really know your background, but I can say that you're only really going to uni once in your life - so really do just enjoy it. I really just suggest to work hard as soon as possible, which means you're allowed to play hard in your free time. As I mentioned on the comment above - try to crack down on time management early on... that is really the root of all academic evil (unless you're one of those super-students that manages to work AND play hard...)
@lukiie: @ilikeanime: @xfaceiess:
Awhhh <3 tysm you guys C: and please, pray for me ^^ <3
1st semester as senior in high school. Stressing out about college apps and scholarships. Got tips for me anyone?
I'm approximately a month away from completing my first semester in my undergraduate degree program. My grades are alright-ish, but it's been hell I have severe time management issues and I have a habit of putting off studying until the last minute. Doing this is a terrible idea in university
Im in a good spot at the moment, but things change for me by the season
Literally its like i can get ahead on the rent i pay (not a lot, i still live at home at 24, it goes towards the bills) for a season, and then in 3 weeks i may have to shell out more $ in 3 weeks than in the 3 months before
Im trying to get back ahead like i was several times in the last year and a half, but unless i get a decent amount of overtime at work its hard (i have a factory job that i only get 9.68 an hour for and 1.5x for overtime, and this company is so cheap its hard/impossible to get overtime sometimes)
But 1 big plus is i was able to get braces this year, which ive been wanting so badly because of my messed up bite, which got to be way worse than ever after the last 3-4 years
ive been hearing that i need braces since i was 13 for a way more minor problem (i started with overlapping front teeth and a minor overbite, then i lost several teeth and got noticeable gaps and got a crossbite and really bad anterior open bite)
Im getting close to my first adjustment and looking forward to it snd the Holidays around the corner
Im looking into getting a PS4 BUNDLE very soon as i got a pretty good amount of overtime the last couple weeks and hopefully i get to work every Friday for a while and then next year i should get a good amount of my own taxes plus a fair amount more since i paid out way more in bills than i was supposed to
So im trying to enjoy things
On LoA from university contemplating dropping out and considering other options. Currently working part time... barely (by choice). Hoping to wake up one day and not be awake.
@coast gosh that's ruff (sry, I had to) - I hope she keeps getting better, you're doing all that you can! I'll send some positive vibes your way!
@camarodriver shoulda been more sneaky. ya coulda had it all b.
@ilikeanime It seems like things are picking up for you! Getting back to the gym and reconnecting with old friends - that's the balance I hope to have one day haha. Grats on the graduation and good luck on the internship!! What field are you in?
@betaboi1 you're almost there!! Grats (on your academic achievement and relationship goals - or wins for that matter hehe). A maplefree life is a good life (for some at least).
Only have a bit more than 1 more semester left of grad school then I plan on leaving my job now and moving back out and getting a job somewhere else
I've also got accepted to the national society of leadership and success, am graduating with honors, am dating this really awesome guy, and have more or less been Mapl free since the summer
@mingela I hope for a good recovery!
At OP: Priority is having my gradutation internship within a month, else I'm in deep sht. After having an uneasy periode I'm slowly picking myself up. I used to feel despressed and stressed daily, to the point that I was tempting to go to a ther@pist (dumb basil). Nowadays I feel much more relaxed. I dropped out of the gym that I used to train 4 years already. Things went going good there and I went to training with much discomfort. Next week I'm gonna join a new one. Also getting in contact with people that I never see anymore. They used to have a special value to me, so it is great to see them again.
@camarodriver: Member days = 82.
@mingela: I'm glad you found out while it was in its early stages.
Get better soon m'dear. <3
@norman897: Well, it's all a learning process so you're getting experience out of your work one way or another. Think of your manager watching you like a hawk as a good thing - maybe that pressure can lead you in the right direction of sorts
I've been a bit slow these days, thinking and pacing more because of my work.
My manager looks to be about to fire me next month because I am too slow to learn and I have made two serious mistakes in work so far. He was watching me like how a hawk watches its prey during my last shift.
Let's just say that the other full timers aren't really happy with my performance as well.
@eveningslurk gogogo indeed! It's great to hear people brag about their lives sometimes
@mingela: WOW. Great to hear you're recovering!! It's refreshing to hear how positive you are despite the circumstances! I'll sneak in a little prayer for your recovery heehee
@killeem ded. grats on finding him! All of those birthdays and Christmas' missed... MILK IT.
gettin spoiled by long lost rich dad, what yall on?
It'll be kind-of gruesome, but bear(bare(?)) with me.
I enrolled into my first semester of college to find out I was diagnosed with Stage I Stomach Cancer.
Fortunately I went through surgery, took some time to recover, then chemotherapy. Still recovering now.
Due to the weakness of surgery then chemo, missed out on a lot of my classwork (had 5 classes) and was forced to drop all my classes because I was a month behind.
BUT I'm still happy and mapling~
NEXT!
hurry everyone come in and brag about your life gogogogo
