Quality =/= Graphics.
Oh joy, all the emulators and movies I could get on my PC can now be on a handheld console PC mess of a hybrid that costs $300+ dollars. Really, I would rather spend time having fun on my 3DS than having a shiny "paperweight" to brag about. But I'll stop here since you aren't in the mood to chat.
never said graphics translate to quality
And for the record, most devices are between 200 and 250 bucks, just like the paperweight XL which comes without an ac adaptor(lol) in several countries
BTW, Its good to kow you can pull a pc in the waiting line, the bus or the couch out of nowhere

I would chat longer here with you about how pitiful your efforts on justifying your waste of money on gymled hardware are, but I would rather spend said time downloading more PSP, DS, GBA, SNES, N64, NES games/romhacks and stream the whole season of american horror story from my pay2win device to my HDtv through miracast while you enjoy your floppy single-hinged mirror that can only play 3DS games for 5 minutes before the battery dries out

And yet the 3DS has been outselling the PS4 and the overpriced doorstop that is the Xbone. The Nvidia Shield and all those silly android handhelds are trying to be some sort of fancy multimedia handheld which nobody cares about. Enjoy your pay 2 win mobile games and fancy 1080P HD super high res non-casual graphics that count for nothing when it comes to actual entertaining games.

Lol @ people arguing about which re-skinned skinnerbox is better
BTW the 3DS is a mere overpriced paperweight, all people who go on saying the 3DS has a "Z0m ghad amazeeng libraree" are nothing but fanboys regurgitating the BS nintendo throws at them
Anyone with a half brain can tell the 3DS haz no games save from rehashed games and upcoming games that have been upcoming games for years (brawl anyone?)
If you want a real handheld just google "android gaming handheld" and pick the one that covers your needs

@tuffghost: the 2ds has a sleep button that puts it into sleep mode
but would you really put that thing in your bag when you're on-the-go? you need the clam shell.

hmm well I'm actually planning to buy both tomorrow and I honestly can't wait to play pokemon x. Maybe in the future I'll get fire emblem since I loved sacred stones so much, only thing really bothering me now is if I should buy a regular 3ds or a 3ds xl.
I have a 3DS XL that I bought specifically for X. PFFFT.
I think it is sooooo goddamn worth it. I tried playing my friends normal 3DS and I just couldn't do it. The screens are sooooo much smaller.
The only noticeable difference is that the bottom screen of the 3DS has better definition than the bottom screen of the 3DS XL.
I wouldn't suggest buying a brand new one at full price... Try finding a used one on craigslist or ebay for cheaper.
@Gyroscope:
lol what?
High selling =/= best game.
You either gotta be a maniac, totally obsessed or just plain bored to continue playing it after finishing the story line.
An average player can finish the story line in probably two sittings.
If you haven't noticed, it's only hitting most popular since people are spamming gaming forums about hate - how theres no -pokebank-
Equivalent to people increasings their site counters with Refresh.
Their hack check was just sad too btw. [Hidden reason why it was taken down]
Not to mention the horrid bug during the first two weeks of release.
Then the whole online cheating lol.
Elite Four was a joke too, and the amount of pokemon is just a total letdown.
Focus too much on megaevolution heck there's all this unreleased speculations... smh.
So..., If you think farming safari codes and breeding eggs for statistics as making it the best,
have fun with it. Goes to show whats left to do after finishing the game once.
Not like there's an actual move tutor that will teach good moves aside from default.
Overall, older gens have more replay+endgame value than the current 6th generation.
If you're trying to save money, normal 3ds/2ds. IF not, go balls out and buy 3ds XL.
But if your going to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, i suggest the normal 3ds with the circle pad pro because the under water camera is horrible.
Well I do have a job so it doesn't really matter, but I'm not sure how I'd feel wasting money if I throw aside pokemon and the system completely.
I'd recommend getting a 3ds XL bundle or something. Pokemon X was the best Pokemon game I've played since Ruby and Sapphire even with a few faults here and there, but those can be easily overlooked.
Plenty of other great games to get for the 3ds too. Fire Emblem Awakening and Dual Destinies are ones I've gotten recently.
yeah the only other game I actually considered besides pokemon x or y was the new fire emblem.

@HastyHeist: I couldn't finish the game, it really was a partially serious question/
Wait, people actually finished them?
was that supposed to be a joke? Because if it was, it wasn't funny at all.
B/W 2 was terrible lol. I had to force myself to finish the game because I hated it so much.
Wait, people actually finished them?
Personally I've been playing Pokemon just to play it. I love the other games they have on the system so there's my justification for buying a 3DS XL.
If you're not interested in the other games, just get the cheaper system.
the 3ds has an amazing library but if you dont mind a smaller system go with the 2ds youre most likely arent going to be playing in 3d anyway
no he should go for at least the 3DS. you need the clam shell models for racking up play coins and streetpasses in sleep mode.

XY is probably the most interesting game in the series in a while. however it has a few key faults.
a 3DS is worth it for more than just pokemon too.
B/W 1 sort of disappointed me, felt like they should have stopped before doing B/W 1 because it just didnt feel like it had the same magic as the game series previously did, Pokemon aside, there are tons of other games the 3DS is worth buying for.
So i really want pokemon x and I have a $40 gift card for best buy, I was thinking, worth it to buy a 3ds xl or just a 3ds?
buy a 2ds with x/y preloaded onto it (from target/toys r us)
i don't want to waste the money on the system, are the pokemon games that bad or what because I loved soul silver.
Pokemon X and Y weren't even that good. I still prefer playing my Black 2 >.>
B/W 2 was terrible lol. I had to force myself to finish the game because I hated it so much.
I agree with this.
Best to get it early before the torchic event ends
do u even pokemon x and y bro? Pokemon X and Y are the best games in the world atm.

XL if you want a 3DS but am I the only one who found X/Y to be ultra boring. Like I am literally not even at the 2nd gym yet and I just tossed my 3DS to the side
Imo if u can buy, buy 3DS XL.
And yes its worth it pokemon y ftw
i was also debating x or y whats the difference?
I'd go for the normal 3ds because it's cheaper.
Also, if you're only going to play pokemon on it and not any other games, I don't think it's worth
it getting an XL.
