Question regarding the rules

Is it perfectly okay for someone to go on facebook, download some selfies people have uploaded, and then post them on basil asking people to rate/compare them based on appearance?

It seems like it might be at odds with Rule 6, though one could read Rule 6 as having only to do with basil members themselves.
That said, I'm pretty sure users have been deleted in the past for taking photos of people (specifically girls) off of facebook, and then impersonating them on basil. Not quite the same, of course, but they share some elements.

Just wondering

@BobR @Etokapa @Kevvl @LimusocoBobo @oOCielOo @Pavchka

Edit: Oh, and before I get suspended for this, wondering if it's against the rules to tag any basil users in posts, or just mods. Should I be weary of quoting you guys as replies too?

Oh please no, don't bring out the government spying argument. Not here.
Just wondering, since when did you start caring about the rules?
I don't. I'm just annoyed by certain people, who do nothing but post troll and bait threads.
Unless something has changed in the 4 years I've been mostly not paying attention, both of the things you mentioned are against the rules. Posting any sort of personal information, short of maybe your own first name, can be considered dangerouss. Remember that this site is supposed to be child friendly, the average age of the user is pretty young (12-13 when I was here last). You should be especially cautious if the person's picture is not yours (as it is in the thread you're mentioning) as that is a breach of someone ELSE's privacy. It's one thing to make fun of/talk about yourself, but it's different when you're doing it about other people.

As far as summoning mods, yeah that's really annoying and not really the best way to get a response. In this case, you could just as easily get a response by PMing a mod. To your second question regarding mod summons, obviously you can still quote us. Use common sense.
Every time there's a non-trivial question about rules, there's always disagreement among the mods. PMing one mod would get me one mod's opinion, which doesn't really constitute a substantive answer to the question. PMing all of you individually would give me 6 answers, and I'd probably be in a worse position than I was in before having asked the question. The forum actually allows for those nuanced viewpoints to undergo a sort of synthesis, and the product of that synthesis is the actual answer to questions of this sort.

And, like, if it's the case that it's against the rules, OP says on page 4 that they are pictures of people he has on facebook, which he took from their facebook pages.

Better to contribute to the solution than the problem?

It's against this recent, outdated policy that was made when the Entertainment forum was not front paged and dead. http://www.basilmarket.com/MapleStory-Guide-Official-Basilmarket-Policies-271.html#Threads
