Shadower

The Shadower

Hey guys

I have been a fan of the thief class since I started playing. Starting from my first 200 with Night Lord, then played phantoms, dual blades, xenons for a little while.
Then lastly the Night walker which became my second 200 since i had the claw and gear for it.
My favorite to least favorite would be NL < NW < Phantoms < Xenon < DB ( I like explorers in general).
But one thief that isn't on this list is the Shadower

Shadowers is the one thief class i haven't played or touched. I hardly see any shadowers out there. Any Shadower mains out there mind telling me their experience with the class. What makes them fun and enjoyable for you? How's is their bossing/training?

I know damage isnt everything but if they are fun im willing to put money into them but are they difficult to fund (Making of the weapon, Dragon Khanjar, etc)?

Anyone out there that says make a db because they are better I prob won't because DBs don't appeal to me and I find them boring.

@GreenGoblin: oh really? So I should just use combo BS+BS from now on right? And thank you for letting me know that.
For bossing: Assassinate all the way
For training: Boomerang Steps combine with Savage Blow all day. Dark Flare might be useful but I'm too lazy to cast.
For defend and survival: Meso Guard, Smoking Screen.
For fun: Pickpocket and Meso Explosion.

After this patch using savage blow is gonna be obsolete. Boomsteps action delay got decreased. Meaning using savage blow would only make you miss out on another boomstep.

Shadowers are quite rare these days, but it is a fun class. Our attack speed is slow, but we make up for it with our fairly high damage output. I'm roughly 300k range buffed and i'm hitting close to 50m on the final blow of Assassinate, which will be OP after the patch. Training (boomerang step + savage blow) and bossing (assassinate) wise, its a very capable class. Finding a CLEAN dragon khanjar may be a little hard to find though. The only ones on the market are the 44 attack ones which cost upwards of 20b.
shadowers getting buffed this week, you chose a good time to play it. main bossing skill, assassinate and phase dash is getting less delay. body counts, which required 5 for a buff or extra damage on final hit of nate, is reduced to 3. but i heard that dual blades, with ~200k ~ 1m range > shadower even with the buff. so i job changed to dual blade.
Unless this was a typo on Nexons part this was taken directly from their patch notes

"Last patch, we decreased the delay and increased the attack speed of Assassinate and Boomerang Step to be stronger in 1:1 situations. However, now we think it might need to be stronger so we have adjusted its delay."

A video I posted in another thread appears to be that boomstep is faster so lets hope for the best.

At end-end-endgame, shadowers will beat out the other thief explorer classes (including DB's) due to the fact that they can break the damage cap. Albeit, they are slower than other classes and won't be able to hit #1 dojo, but they will still be faster at bosses such as hard magnus. It's fun doing 70m lines with assassinate at 500k range. And they get nice invincibility frames with b step. They are also absolute tanks and they almost never get 1 shot at places where NL's and DB's would easily die at low funding.

Training is slow af. I would honestly play another class to 200 and then job change to shads lol.
The most fun part about shadowers is remembering how much better they were than everyone else back in the day. They had everything from decent damage (but not godly) to great novelties and conveniences. All around best class.
Now they're dimeadozen, blends in with the rest, etc.
I remember when being rich was desirable so you can drop them 50k sacks of mesos at zakum's altar.

The thing that makes them fun is that they aren't always using one skill to mob with all the time, and they also have a variety of skills to play around with. You might have seen people saying that Boomerang Step is "too slow", well they weren't using another skill in between each Boomerang Step to fill in the delay, you can use Savage Blow, Meso Explosion, maybe even Phase Dash. Anyways, a lot of skills to play around with, Steal, Savage Blow, Midnight Carnival with Pickpocket on, Meso Explosion, Phase Dash as a rush(can also push mesos too), Boomerang Step which you can combo with another skill, Assassinate's secret stance effect, the occasional Shadow Veil and Sudden Raid.
Another thing that might be unique about them is that some of our skills have words in them, like Double Stab, Haste, Savage Blow, Shadow Veil, I think Midnight Carnival and Boomerang Step too. We used to have these red orbs that would appear over our heads from the Shadower Instinct skill with words in them too, but they removed them in the RED update.
A lot of different ways to train/mob, the most common being Boomerang Step with Savage Blow. Meso Explosion is useful against flying mobs, like in Evo System Link 3. Maybe if you're strong enough and have a pet, you can just use Steal to make Mystic Stolen Potions drop, they heal your HP and MP when picked up. If you're training in a flat map, Phase Dash is pretty good, just go left and right. The first part of Assassinate gives a stance effect for 30 seconds, it's really good if you don't like being knocked back all the damn time.
I don't boss that much, but Assassinate is strong as hell. It also doesn't get too boring because Assassinate is a two part type of skill, so it's always different/alternating when being spammed. You can also use Dark Sight with Assassinate for some more extra damage, it also stacks with Shadower Instinct's body count so it'll do a lot more damage. A lot of people say not to use Dark Sight because it's too slow, well I still use it because I don't really care about attacking speed that much, and sometimes it does get boring just to hold down on Assassinate the whole time. Maybe it's because I'm still a noob. Using Steal against a boss makes a Mystic Stolen Potion drop with an extra 30 attack, but they only drop them one time. Steal is also useful for those potion cooldown bosses or whatever, I don't know if it's still a thing, but if the boss summons mobs, you can use Steal to make a bunch of Mystic Stolen Potions drop, just in case you get hit and need to heal, you can just pick one up. You can also try to dodge attacks from some bosses with Boomerang Step since it has invincibility frames. Meso Explosion doesn't trigger damage reflect back to you, but it won't do any damage past 1 damage.
Anyways, Shadower is pretty damn fun. It might have been more fun in the past with Assaulter and Band of Thieves, but frig the past, it's time to move forward. You can just play Hayato for Assaulter.

meso explosion is an original skill with potential -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJvsN5GVyjo
lets add shadower to top of dps chart

EDIT: heres another video of that pro shadower lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO9F__4T2Hk in case you think they are still targets. Fast and high number hitting attack coupled with smokescreen for defence and heck even dark flare for mob control makes shadower such a great class. If you have the funds that is xD
