Do you speak any languages besides English

Well, do you? And what country are you from? If you don't know any other languages, what would you like to learn?

I'm from the USA and can speak some Spanish (2 Spanish classes) and some Hebrew (learned from song lyrics after teaching self to read). I would love to be fluent in Hebrew.

I'm from the US; I fluently speak, read, and write English and French. I can also understand and speak Marathi (but can't read it) and can read and write Swedish (I can speak it too, my pronunciation is just messed up)
@MzMegs: But its not really simple to learn hebrew i mean you need a teacher.
There's spaciel verbs in hebrew and that's why ppl say its a difficult language
Ugh. I just understood what you said in your first post. You said it's hard to teach yourself to read Hebrew and I missed the "read". But yeah, I did teach myself to read it and am pretty darn good at it if I do say so myself. Not to sound stuck-up. I taught myself to read it so I could find music since I love mizrahi music. Haha.

A non francophone would classify me as fluent, true francophones could tell I'm not quite there. In addition to the 10 years of French I took in high school and university, I had to learn enough German to pass a reading proficiency when I was in grad school ... basically enough to read a 6 page doctoral level physics / math journal in German and translate it into English perfectly with the help of a basic dictionary in under an hour. I don't think I could understand any spoken German though, just read it without a ton of difficulty.

*from the US, and all bachelors, masters, doctoral degrees held are from US institutions*

Also, no real desire to learn any other languages ... maybe java, hah. I guess it would be nice to actually learn how to speak German. I've kinda wanted to visit and maybe even move to Switzerland ... so yeah being able to actually speak German would probably help a bit more than just knowing French and being able to read German.

I know very little japanese, took two years of japanese course, I have no idea how I managed to pass. I can barely read katakana at all, only hiragana and I can't say a complex sentence for my life (ex: I need to go the toilet because I wet my pants - that level of complex, lol). I also know cantonese, but I mostly just understand it, I can only speak a few common phrases.

Yes I do. I'd love to learn German, and just for kicks, I'd also like to learn Croatian because a lot of my friends are. I always ask them about new words but it's hard to remember the simplest words sometimes when it comes to pronunciation.

Mandarin and Spanish
Though I admit, I'd prefer not to write in Mandarin or speak in Spanish. Other then that, I'm quite fluent with those languages.

But the language I barely understand is English. The grammar and spelling is so confusing and weird, and I never get it perfect ...
